It's like people who drink "bright" beers and lagers.. Around 90% of beer/larger contains traces of dead fish which is used to clear the brew prior to bottling/canning etc.. I bet the bar staff up the student's union don't let their customers know that !!! ;-) "K.P. Which leads us neatly back into cool... was listening to a radio interview last evening -- Frank Sinatra's personal assistant, who helped with his clothes, etc. -- Frank was always pacing about because he didn't want to sit down and muss the crease in his trouser legs! Put me in mind of Mac's obsession with his hair ;-) I suppose being fashionable is best left to the truly cool :-) - ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through IMP: http://horde.org/imp/ ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Aug 2003 17:44:56 -0500 From: Amy Moseley Rupp Subject: Re: seven-seas Slideling review From the _Slideling_ review posted by Kristin: "Another Train" sounds like two songs fused together, neither very good." This is the only point upon which the reviewer and I sort of agree.... for some reason that song has yet to grow on me, and it does sound disjointed .... perhaps like train cars? :-) - ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through IMP: http://horde.org/imp/ ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Aug 2003 17:48:38 -0500 From: Amy Moseley Rupp Subject: seven-seas OT: power cut? A woman at work said her daughter will have to re-wire her whole house because of this... everything krackled and snapped when it blew. It fried 2 of her tv's and her deep freezer too. Plus...the water is rising (flooding) and she lives 50 yards from the river....plus has no power. (she lives near the Canadian border) Laptops are not a concern, I'm sure! I meant only so they could communicate. The mobile network is largely down because the receptor towers need electricity, but dialup is likely to work to any ISP of decent reputation, because they have so much battery backup in both the landline telephone system and the ISP itself for the servers. That whole NE US-Eastern Canada power grid seems sort of shaky. Remember the ice storm a few years back took down one of the hydro plants in Quebec and similarly knocked out the power to a huge area. One of the few things I have to be proud of in my career is designing machines that could take things like earthquakes and power outages and keep running; and when Osaka, Japan had a massive earthquake a few years back, the machines we had designed were the ONLY way anyone could communicate, including the emergency services. - --Amy, electrical engineer (TSPE/EIT) - ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through IMP: http://horde.org/imp/ ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V2 #658 ********************************
