(If they had parents, that is.) You sure you're not thinking of The Coral? I certainly don't hear "retro" when I listen to Snow Patrol... - --- That was just me trying to wind up, Stu! But I know he's above that kind of thing. (Stu had earlier written: "...Every Coral song I've heard sounds like it's been borrowed in parts from their parent's record collection.") Far be it for people to like groups that are influenced by others gone before er... like Television, The Ramones, The Velvets, Bowie, etc. Personally I think The Coral are dead talented, especially for ones still so shockingly young. I can understand their over-promotion pissing people off, though. But that's Sony's doing, definitely not the band's. _________________________________________________________________ Protect your PC - get McAfee.com VirusScan Online http://clinic.mcafee.com/clinic/ibuy/campaign.asp?cid=3963 ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 09 Aug 2003 10:32:29 -0400 From: Red Subject: RE: seven-seas OT: Hot Hot Hot At 06:18 AM 8/9/03 +0100, you wrote: >> I looked up 'snowcones' in my dictionary... > >And??!! Well, I've eaten them......but not very many times coz they're B O R I N G !!!!! All they are is crushed ice with syrupy flavourings poured over them.....and ususally watered down. And if you get one at a theme park......you may as well just stand there on the pavement and start throwing large amounts of your money up in the air and watch the crowd grab it.... you'd get more pleasure out of your money! hahaha It's fucking highway robbery what they charge for a bunch of ice and some shitty tasting syrup! Probably costs pennies to make...and they want like over $4 for one!!! Can you say.....rip off? Ice cream is far more worth the money. Ain't gonna bother making my own either! Popsicles taste way better than snow cones. Great, my first good impression from the first release still holds. Knowing all the troubles that Gimme gave the fans, I'm curious did the Bunnymen received trheir due compensation from the label? How many were sold? Is Porcupine Records a Bunnymen-owned label? I'm assuming that it is. He opened for The Waterboys in Oct 2001 at Irving Plaza, when our Waterfans group have to leave our table because it was reserved for David Bowie who came and booted us (nicely) during the intermission, so we sat at the table next to him. What a great concert that was! The best unknown opening act since White Lion supported Blue Oyster Cult in the early 80's, suberb show by The Waterboys (top 10 of all time) and meeting David Bowie, who probably stood in NY to do his 9/11 benefit for NYC shortly after this Waterboys concert.
