OTOH, New Order ain't either. Obviously, MES is considered to be a showman, such that he can replace every member of the band and still have it be "The Fall." Even Mac couldn't pull that one off. That makes me wonder: what bands today have frontmen who *could* do such a thing? ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Aug 2003 00:04:43 +0100 From: "Noose Boy" Subject: RE: seven-seas V2003 To Be Televised More importantly Killing Joke?? - -----Original Message----- From: Charles Pham According to Coldplay.com: "V2003 TO BE TELEVISED V2003 Festival coverage will be split between ITV1 and ITV2. First off, I *like* New Order; my earlier comment about them having nothing I'd call ... can't even remember the adjective, let's say exquisite, is relative to my other musical tastes. What I was getting at is that New Order shows in the past have not been punctuated by a lot of showmanship. In the '80s reviewers here would *always* comment that they pretty much played the music "heads down" eg stationary behind their instruments. Certainly anyone would look subdued compared to former bandmate Ian Curtis! Showmanship is not the sole measure of a performer's worth. I've commented that the lead singer of The Darkness is the most showman-like (shaman-like? ;-)) singer I've seen in ages. Don't make him my favourite singer. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Aug 2003 08:15:25 +0100 From: "Noose Boy" Subject: RE: seven-seas RE: showmanship Ah right I see. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-seven-seas@smoe.org [mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Amy Rupp Sent: 07 August 2003 00:47 To: seven-seas@smoe.org Subject: seven-seas RE: showmanship > How did New Order get into this and what do you mean?
