Oh, absolutely. But most of the concerts I was seeing were arena concerts and the scalpers made off with the lion's share of good seats. The buyer of said seats was almost always a frat boy trying to impress his date; they'd show up drunk and loud and a nightmare, cos they'd come to *be seen* and not to *see*. That's why I put in the proviso about "good gig behaviour." It wouldn't have kept Red's friend outta the NYC gig he was misbehaving at (he'd've gotten in under the "big fan" category) but would allow any music-loving fan with a bit of respect to attend a show. Again -- this was in the university "wishful thinking" years -- that there were rules that were absolutely fair to everyone if only the people in charge would listen to reason and put them into place :-) I know now that nothing is nearly as simple as that and have quit altogether attempting to make up rules and I don't envy those who make them or enforce them. It's much easier to hmmmm... wonder what "armchair quarterback" would translate into? pontificate pompously on What Ought To Be Done, ridicule the rulers, and reach for another beer. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 30 Jul 2003 02:31:54 +0100 From: "K.P. If you meant to say to send them to me, sure, people easily parted with leisure funds are certainly welcome! :-) ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Jul 2003 22:23:22 -0700 From: "MCH" Subject: Re: seven-seas OT: Visi Goth > I knew I was old the other day when I came across > a musical preference setting: "Classic Goth." I That's just to distinguish it from "Visi Goth" which is a newer movement, partially reviving the ancient culture of the same name, and involving a lot of burning incense and pillaging thrift shops and ideally, sacking in Rome when the airfares are low enough to get a couple there... ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V2 #600 ********************************
