Hey all, I'm back on the list, just re-subbed. And I've got an unsubstantiated rumor to share. A friend of a friend of a friend got word that the Bunnymen have a date set in NYC this October. No venue or any other details were disclosed, but that it was along with another band. I wouldn't put too much weight on it, as the source was shoddy to begin with. Nevertheless, it's nice to have something to talk about. Oh, not sure if I mentioned this before but I caught Coldplay's gig at Madison Square Garden in NY last month and they ended their set with an amazing version of Lips Like Sugar. the first and only time I've ever heard a Bunnymen song performed live in such a large arena... I've seen other films where there are bands on the cd soundtrack, but not in the actual film. Maybe they suddenly realized it was Rush they were talking about.... and scratched that scene from the film! hahahhaa Red ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Jul 2003 13:36:59 +0100 From: matt.harkness@bt.com Subject: seven-seas Film soundtracks > I've seen other films where there are bands on the cd > soundtrack, but not in the actual film. So what film gets your vote for best soundtrack? Off the top of my head, I'd probably go for a little-known Brit Flick called "It's Different For Girls", which featured (obviously) Joe Jackson, plus Buzzcocks playing live in a club that the characters were visiting, and Stiff Little Fingers' Suspect Device playing when the delivery driver left a parcel in a public phone booth by mistake. Given time I'd probably come up with others, and I suppose that really, The Clash's Rude Boy ought to be up there.... > suddenly realized it was Rush they were talking about.... > and scratched that scene from the film! hahahhaa I reckon you're right there..... ;-) ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Jul 2003 13:44:06 +0100 From: matt.harkness@bt.com Subject: RE: seven-seas Film soundtracks > So what film gets your vote for best soundtrack? I've just checked on Amazon, and The Killing Moon ain't even ON the OST album.....instead it's just the incidental background music from the film. Weird..... ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Jul 2003 09:21:34 -0400 From: Red Subject: RE: seven-seas Film soundtracks At 01:44 PM 7/24/03 +0100, you wrote: >> So what film gets your vote for best soundtrack? > >And just because The Killing Moon is in Donnie Darko, does that >make it a good soundtrack? I saw it the last time I was in the UK.... the film was weird....not what I was expecting... but I didn't think the soundtrack was too bad.... although I can't recall now what tracks were in it! hehee But I did think the Killing Moon was sorta out of place in it's placement in the film.....and I know that was talked about on here before. But that's how I felt. Just seemed odd at the time. Weird..... Yeah, I've always found that odd too. The movie Hairspray has a cool soundtrack if you like oldies, but some of the tracks in the film aren't on the soundtrack, and some that are on the soundtrack aren't in the film. It just doesn't make sense. I thought the purpose of a soundtrack was to use the songs from the film. And before anyone makes any bad comments about Hairspray.... it's just a lighthearted film I used to watch a lot in the 80's :PPP but I see it's on Broadway now!
