Nope, it's not :-) :-) The only crap thing is that all the REM shows are already on sale -- as well as RADIOHEAD which is October! I checked a while back and Radiohead hadn't gone on sale, and now they are! Sometimes Ticketb*st*rd releases tickets in a trickle now and then, so that if you keep trying, you might be able to get a good seat, but I'm thinking that I'm going to have to use a scalper to be able to see them more than microscopically and Houston scalpers are the worst, because scalping is illegal there (not for the whole state, just THERE). So it's more like organised crime than anything else. > They're all nice guys. > Met them when they plaed a local college near me. > Also met Peter Buck at the Bunnymen gig in 1984! > He played with the Fleshtones for a song or two. > Whatever happend to that band???? Dunno, but I thought it was hilarious when some college kid half-recognised Buck at SXSW this year and asked him, "Weren't you in a band?" and Buck said, yeah, the Fleshtones..... ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Jul 2003 14:12:34 -0500 From: "Amy Rupp" Subject: RE: seven-seas REM > I think the reason I stopped seeing REM is > because I hate going to monstrous gigs! > I still like REM, but refuse to go to stadiums > or arenas for gigs. I just pray the Bunnymen > never start playing them! I'm not fond of the big shows either, but with Rush & REM as two of my favourite three, and heck if Radiohead makes it up my queue that'll be three big "R" bands -- anyway, I'm doomed to the Texas mega-ampitheatres which are hotter than hell in the summer. Now stadiums.... screw that. There's no venue here anymore that suits the "mega-ampitheatre" bands so we get missed out, but REM will be here as part of an Austin City Limits thing :-) Man, REM has class. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Jul 2003 15:27:18 -0400 From: Red Subject: RE: seven-seas re:- fall set list At 02:08 PM 7/23/03 -0500, you wrote: >are the worst, because scalping is illegal there (not >for the whole state, just THERE). If you're seeing a band in a stadium....why bother paying scalpers for good seats...coz all you really need to do in a stadium is hear coz ya can't see anywhere, even on the floors....and the sound sucks in a stadium anyway...that's why I won't go. Saw the Cure once... in a stadium, and walked out before they were over, and vowed never again. I stalled out on picking up new favourite bands after my first was born (1992!) because I just chose to immerse myself in work, mommyhood, and if I still was awake, reading. Oh yeah, and gardening and genealogy :-) I've begun again, but I'm still heavy on bands that have been around a number of years. My SIL calls my brother and I old fart band lovers but when we teased her about liking U2 and REM she claimed that they did not count. Yeah right! She does however love Mac's ability to just rip someone a new one, as the latest expression goes, in the most hilarious and off-handed way. She prefers listening or reading interviews with him rather than any of the music! ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V2 #576 ********************************
