Everybunny knows how the corner shops and pubs always attract the most business! It's called 'marketing and merchandising'! Although, I usually prefer the little out of the way pubs myself... but the corner ones always catch your eye first. It was a great load of fuss but I did go. The coolest part, IMHO, was meeting Will from this list and FallNet, and being on the guest list :-) My kids only settled down about the time the band went on (reports by phone) and wanted me home. Since I won't see them again until Monday afternoon, I watched half the set and then went home to them. The band didn't go on until midnight. The crowd was extremely interesting -- best T-shirt: "Copyright Infringement Is Your Best Entertainment Value" LOL there was one guy wearing a gimme cap, with a waxed handlebar mustache, and a long black trenchcoat. There were the weirdest people and outfits I've seen in a long time, and the audience was enthusiastic. It wasn't too hot because we had remnants of hurricane rain that cooled us down. The band were very tight and I couldn't help but remember Scott's mentioning the two-note keyboardist, cos he was basically right, but Ben, the guitarist, was excellent. Didn't get any drunken temper tantrums or storming off stage during the part I saw. The songs were tight, and there was less "uh" than Scott heard, in part because the vocals were pretty muffled and down in the mix from where I was stood. Couldn't tell ya what they played, because I'm not at all familiar with their work, but I'm sure Will can post a setlist. He's going to the Dallas show tonight. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Jul 2003 15:09:46 -0400 From: Red Subject: RE: seven-seas OT: What Are We Doing To Do With Our Lives? Could be.... no one mentioned it, only that the former rhythm section for the Smiths had backed a band whose singer was a former wife of his named Rick? Ric? Anyway, the keyboardist looked fairly young, but hey, you'd probably need to be young to keep up with that dude! It was hard to have a conversation and learn these things because of the general level of sound all during the night, and I yelled myself hoarse. Very interesting bathroom graffiti as well, but nothing I can post from work! ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Jul 2003 20:07:57 +0100 (BST) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Stu=20Bird?= Subject: Re: seven-seas OT: What Are We Doing To Do With Our Lives? I hope that was proper Shepherd's pie, and not minced beef which is cottage pie. Shepherd's pie is of course minced lamb only, but it's one of those wierd things that get confused all the time... Similar to the "Wherefore art thou Romeo" line in Romeo & Juliet.. No it doesn't mean "where are you", it means "Why are you"..... i.e any other name ( family ) would be okay.. That is my biggest pet hate concerning misuse of language. Shit, I obviously need a spliff............
