Immediate, accessible but unquestionably The Fall. - -- Barry Whiting barry@urquell.freeserve.co.uk ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 06 Jul 2003 12:48:32 -0500 From: "willoc@flashmail.com" Subject: seven-seas Re: the Fall The Fall are playing at Emo's in Austin on July 16. And Dallas the day after that which is the last stop on the tour. I don't think they have played the South since the mid 80's so it is real unusual that the last 3 stops are in Texas (playing Houston too but don't think I will make that show). So I'm like 75% certain to be at the Austin gig, will let you know. See here for listing of tour dates & ticketing info http://www.visi.com/fall/news/fallnews.html So what is Emo's like I have not been there. Actually haven't been to the Gypsy Tea Room in Dallas either. - - Will O'Connor ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 6 Jul 2003 17:44:52 -0500 (CDT) From: Amy Moseley Rupp Subject: Re: seven-seas Re: the Fall > The Fall are playing at Emo's in Austin on July 16. God, I'm going to be knackered again :-( I have mandatory divorce arbitration that day, which means piss a bunch of money down a drain, frustrate myself, and get nowhere. Positive attitude, eh? ;-) > So what is Emo's like I have not been there. Actually haven't been to the > Gypsy Tea Room in Dallas either. Dunno about Dallas, but Emo's is where the Buzzcocks played. It's both intimate and big -- if you stand next to the stage it's intimate, but there are also bleachers off to the side. But it's fucking HOT. I mean HOT, there is no A/C and with a full crowd, well, let's just say you're going home in your own and everyone else's sweat. The heat really did me in at the Buzzcocks show. There *is* A/C inside in a couple of bar rooms -- the place sprawls. Get loaded before you get there if you like -- nothing special at the bar. Standard Texas fare -- Shiner Bock on tap, that sort of thing. No cider, either :-( :-( and no bar I've found yet carries *decent* cider. Austin summer crowds are awful, because it's hot, and most of the University kids are elsewhere, so it can be hard to sell a show. June, July, and August are the *worst* -- any other month is okay. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 07 Jul 2003 01:36:19 -0400 From: "Henry Biedenkapp" Subject: seven-seas Album Title / Cover Art A connection just came to me. i know in the past we had a small discussion about the Album relationship between the first four albums and the current four albums, but in greater detail these are the connections I came up with: Crocodiles & Evergreen = Tree Motif Heaven Up Here & WAYGTDWYL = Looking Out Into the Distance Motif Porcupine & Avalanche = Animals: Porcupine (title) & Bunnygod (Cover) Nature: Iceland (cover) & Avalanche (title) Ocean Rain & Flowers = Boat Motif Now the Album Titles: 1) For EATB Mk1, I see the odd albums as Animal (Earthbound) related : Crocodiles & Porcupine & possibly STLAS (inclusion of 'Dancing Horses') 2) For EATB Mk1, I see the even albums as Higher Nature (Mystical) related : heaven Up Here & Ocean Rain 3) For EATB Mk3, I see the bookend albums as Lower Nature (Earthbound) related : Evergreen & Flowers 4) For EATB Mk3, I see the middle albums as Earthbound (again) related : Avalanche & WAYGTDWYL (the road) I'm not sure how and if the Grey album (Earthbound?) or Reverbation (Mystical) fits in Would anybody like to comment and add their own thoughts Henry _________________________________________________________________ STOP MORE SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V2 #519 ********************************
