The TV coverage has been absolute shite. Some bands have been shown SEVERAL times, not just twice. And why the hell did bbc3 have to break away from Radiohead's set to show the Super Furrys when bbc2 were on air at the same time. The wanky presenters said "Radiohead coverage continues over on bbc2" so over I go, to be met by an interview with Wayne Coyne and that bird from Moloko, and it was only after about 1/4 hour that they started showing Radiohead, so we must've missed at least a couple of songs. Plus, on the Sunday afternoon highlights program they showed Radiohead doing Street Spirit, saying that they closed the show with it, but the live coverage the night before ended with Karma Police.....what else did we miss?? Oh well....I guess the bootlegs'll be on Kazaa soon enough! ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Jun 2003 11:15:39 -0500 From: "Amy Rupp" Subject: RE: seven-seas from nme .com............ > >>Echo And The Bunnymen's Ian McCulloch famously hates > festivals. A rainboot? ;-) We were clueless as to how to really dress punk where I grew up, but we had 'punk' day as far back as 1981, when I was 14. I think people's ideas came more from Devo than the UK punk bands -- lots of strange space looking stuff and weird sunglasses. That year I wore *nothing but* bin bags as outerwear to school. Back then your choices were black or green, and I at least had enough chic to choose black. I probably looked more like a homeless person than a punk, and it was hotter than hell, but hey, at the end of the day there was no laundry! I do wish someone had hit me in the head with a large collection of good stuff. Youth is indeed wasted on the young... or is it that the youth are always wasted? :-) NO way would I do high school again, but college? As long as I was young again, yeah! :-) High school is where an 16 year old who pays taxes and is responsible for a till at work has to ask permission to go to the loo. Bizarre. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Jun 2003 13:24:42 -0400 From: Red Subject: RE: seven-seas from nme .com............ Hefty trash bags, black, held together with a lot of duct tape and safety pins. It's just like making a dress or pants (oops, trousers) out of plastic cloth -- cut out rough pieces and tape and pin together. Only has to last for a day, and taken off once (with allowances for restroom breaks -- so a skirt is the way to go). Hey, I thought it was cool then ;-) all industrial, black plastic, metal, and silver duct tape. Forget what sort of shoes I wore. High fashion, huh. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Jun 2003 15:47:08 -0500 From: "Amy Rupp" Subject: RE: seven-seas pics of mac at glasto > has he died his hair a reddish colour? His hair *died*? Oh no!!!!!!! Is it a mismatched wig? ;-) Seriously, if he *had* put some henna on it, it's the right way to go :-P So what's the *deal*, I mean, I'm envisioning from the last Glastonbury something akin to the giant marshmallow man from Ghostbusters lumbering about the stage and cursing... does anyone have pictures of this not-so-supermellow Mac? And I guess Mac got off easy getting compared to Jo Brand. A recent article on Shaun Ryder said that the former "street urchin" (eg thin and wansomely cute) had transformed into a middle-aged *Teletubby*. Ouch. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Jun 2003 17:24:06 -0400 From: Red Subject: RE: seven-seas from nme .com............ I guess I was thinking ...yeah right, she wore garbage bags to school all year? mmm hhmmmm yeah riiight! ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Jun 2003 16:36:09 -0500 From: "Amy Rupp" Subject: RE: seven-seas from nme .com............ > >Only has to last for a day, and taken off once (with allowances for > >restroom breaks -- so a skirt is the way to go). > > um....well, you said, THAT YEAR you wore NOTHING BUT.....etc > etc etc..... > so you only did this for ONE DAY then? > I guess I was thinking ...yeah right, she wore garbage bags to > school all year? mmm hhmmmm yeah riiight! Um, that year on *Punk Day* I wore nothing except trash bags and my underwear to school. :-) Now, we *were* rather hard off in those days, but I think a daily change of trash bags would've been more expensive than the clothes my mum made for me! ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V2 #501 ********************************
