Martin Slattery and Scott Shields of the Mescaleros are currently in the final stages of mixing the follow-up to 2001's 'Global A Go-Go', which will include eleven new tracks and a cover of Bob Marley's 'Redemption Song'. Strummer told Rolling Stone last year that his priority was to get the new songs on tape while they were still fresh. He said, "We've gotta record them straight away." He added that he wanted to "bang into the studio and knock them down. Musicians memories are very short". Slattery said, "I want it to be as close to what Joe wanted as possible." Strummer died on December 22 last year due to congenital heart failure/ His band The Clash were later inducted into the 2003 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March this year ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Jun 2003 17:03:25 -0500 From: "Amy Rupp" Subject: RE: seven-seas Joe Strummer OTOTOTOT > -----Original Message----- > From: looloo [mailto:looloo@lmizzi.freeserve.co.uk] > Sent: Monday, June 23, 2003 4:58 PM > To: Seven-Seas; villiers-terrace@yahoogroups.com > Subject: seven-seas Joe Strummer OTOTOTOT > > > from NME.com > > > > He said, "We've gotta record them straight away." And unfortunately so are some musician's lives.... for many reasons :-( > Strummer died on December 22 last year due to congenital > heart failure. I'd always wondered what the final outcome of that was.... awful to have a timebomb like that. Bill Berry, REM's drummer, nearly died in Lausanne, Switzerland due to a brain aneurysm -- congenital weakness. (Stu, if it's nme.com, ought it not be 22 December?) ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V2 #480 ********************************
