This week I have been working my ass off installing a whole heap of data circuits on the site, for various purposes, one of which is the link-ups for mobile phone cell sites. Both Orange and O2 are providing three extra masts to cover the influx of 100,000+ people, a big percentage of whom will be bringing their mobile phones with them. If you're a Vodafone or T Mobile customer, or with one of the service providers who roam their networks, such as Virgin Mobile, forget it! With no extra coverage, your networks are gonna be swamped and the chances of making/receiving a call severely limited. So, if you're coming to the festival, and you can't stand to be parted from your phone (I swear some people's are actually glued to their ears, even at gigs.....grrrrr.....a pet hate of mine), get yerself an Orange or O2 one. Matt btw... I didn't put OT in the subject line because I figured that, although my post is about mobile phones, it's also about the Glasto festival, which is kinda on-topic as the Bunns are playing there. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Jun 2003 18:17:28 +0100 From: "Noose Boy" Subject: RE: seven-seas goodbye. Reminds me of a story a friend of mine told me. A friend that she had went out for a meal on a first date. She was getting on great with the guy and needed to pop to the loo. Having taken a pee but not realizing there was no paper in that cubicle she wasn't sure what to do. She called out and asked if anyone was there and if they could pass some paper along, but it was quiet and she guessed no one was in. Thus, she decided to shuffle out of her cubicle and to the next one, get the paper and everything would be hunky dory. She set off and went out of her cubicle and butt first pushed the door of what she thought was the adjacent one, not knowing it was actually the door to the restaurant. Waving her butt to the whole restaurant including the new fella she'd taken a liking to. What a bummer hey? - -----Original Message----- From: Amy Rupp If someone came out of the loo trailing toilet paper from the back of their trousers/pants, would you announce that fact to everyone in hearing distance, or would you desperately try to get their attention so you could tell them in private? ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Jun 2003 12:17:27 -0500 From: "Amy Rupp" Subject: RE: seven-seas Glasto advice > I think over the last few years Orange has been doing this and always > had good reception, though I've managed to get other nets to work, I > think. So can the Vodafone users *borrow* your mobile if they buy you a beer? :-) And can you text me with updates? :-) Oooh now that's one of Stu's pet hates :-) I guess Glastonbury Tor is not near enough the festival site to make a difference, but I *hate* that thing with a passion because it creates a shadow that invariably drops calls. I think they ought to put a great honking antenna atop that one ;-) (just kidding) (sort of) The best things in life begin with an "O." ;-) Like.... "Ocean Rain"! I did notice that the Rolling Stone editors, those bastions (or should it be another "bast" word) of musical critique, gave HUH only two stars but OR four. Readers, however, gave *all* the Bunnymen albums four stars. I wonder when the poll for that was done and how many of y'all voted several times? :-) ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Jun 2003 18:22:18 +0100 From: "Noose Boy" Subject: RE: seven-seas bunnymen tickets on ebay.....
