Outlook is configured to automatically append the entire letter at the end. Unless you take the time to figure out how to reconfigure the program, that's its default behaviour. I've been struggling with the Outlook learning curve because I've never used it before. Quoting an entire mail is also *especialy* annoying for those on the digest version, which I assume from the subject of this mail you are receiving. It's not so much a factor if you're not on the digest, which is why, perhaps, some people don't realise how annoying this practice is. I've sorted how to do this in Outlook, so if anyone wants to know, drop me a line. It *does* take longer to include just the relevant bits so that people know what you're referring to without having to re-read or skip past the entire original article. It's easier to either not include any of the original or include it all. Somewhere I heard that Chinese food is made so that cutting it while eating is not necessary -- everything is already bite- sized. This makes a lot of sense -- it's kind to those eating, especially guests. But it takes extra work by the cook. The same would apply here -- try to make your posts more easily digestible ;-) (though soundbite size doesn't seem to be very popular!) ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Jun 2003 17:24:51 +0100 From: matt.harkness@bt.com Subject: seven-seas Glasto advice I realise that the likes of Stu are far more qualified to offer advice on how to survive the event, but I do have one little piece of advice I can offer. This week I have been working my ass off installing a whole heap of data circuits on the site, for various purposes, one of which is the link-ups for mobile phone cell sites. Both Orange and O2 are providing three extra masts to cover the influx of 100,000+ people, a big percentage of whom will be bringing their mobile phones with them. If you're a Vodafone or T Mobile customer, or with one of the service providers who roam their networks, such as Virgin Mobile, forget it! With no extra coverage, your networks are gonna be swamped and the chances of making/receiving a call severely limited. So, if you're coming to the festival, and you can't stand to be parted from your phone (I swear some people's are actually glued to their ears, even at gigs.....grrrrr.....a pet hate of mine), get yerself an Orange or O2 one. Matt btw... I didn't put OT in the subject line because I figured that, although my post is about mobile phones, it's also about the Glasto festival, which is kinda on-topic as the Bunns are playing there. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V2 #463 ********************************
