Or did I dream it all?? Stu don't lurk!!!!!!! We want to hear all about Glasto! I think everyone should just carry on as usual but maybe show a bit of restraint when going off topic or chit chatting back and forth and put 'off topic' in the subject when posting OT chit chat. We've seen what happens when all chit chat is banned - the thing dies! and none of us want that. But understandably, when there are lots of OT chit chat mails that do not have the subject changed to OT it's gonna piss people off...... Did that sound patronising?? - sorry, didn't mean to. It must be the mum in me coming out!! If we 'exercise some self-control' <--------- On Topic!! Now what song is that from?? I shoud know but can't think of it at the moment...... I also think that most people here have contributed something interesting and/or relevent at some time or another to the list. If he thought Cave couldn't sing, I'd imagine Mac wouldn't want to write a song just to hear Cave butcher it ;-) so I imagine it might be the other way round. > If we 'exercise some self-control' <--------- On Topic!! Well, it's past 10 pm there but if you haven't thought of it by the morning I'm SURE it'll be answered. ;-) > I also think that most people here have contributed something > interesting and/or relevent at some time or another to the list. Hmmmm..... Have I been more interesting, or relevant? Afraid of being neither! The reality is that only a few folks are going to have relevant and rare information like (and forgive me if I miss you out) Charles, Ivan, ChrisA, et al -- and the rest of us can only *react* to what's said or to music/gigs. This community has never been just a mail version of a static bulletin board -- at a minimum we all add our graffiti to the more substantive offerings. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Jun 2003 23:20:03 +0100 From: "Barry Whiting" Subject: Re: seven-seas The Cavester.../The List - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Shaz" > I think everyone should just carry on > as usual but maybe show a bit of restraint when going off topic or chit > chatting back and forth and put 'off topic' in the subject when posting OT > chit chat. I don't have a problem with "OT chit chat" _BUT_ I do think it should be restricted to music only. After all, that's why we're all here. Plenty of good people have left the list recently (not just Charles) because the flow of 'one-liners'/'Way OTs' has got too much. Indeed, I've been tempted to jack the whole thing in myself. - -- Barry - -- Barry Whiting barry@urquell.freeserve.co.uk ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Jun 2003 23:32:29 +0100 From: "Shaz" Subject: Re: seven-seas The Cavester.../The List I thought that according to Zaps rules, On topic meant Bunnymen related stuff and music related. Off topic was anything else, which is why I was saying to have some restraint on the Off Topic (non-Bunnymen/music) stuff. Personally, I agree with you. I'm only here for the music chat/news. But because we are a community I guess not everyone agrees. After the second album (1992's Mysterio), it seemed to just fade away. Ian McCulloch: It just didn't seem worth it, you know? At that point I knew I was looking for something else. Some songs on the solo albums were good, and there were some really good lyrics, but there was also a lot of confusion. I didn't really know what I was looking for-until I met up with Will and heard him play guitar again. I never liked putting out records as Ian McCulloch. Still, I'm not done. I'll have a comeback in the year 2000. I'll come back as the Sinatra of the 21st century. I want to get people to write songs for me, though, people like Nick Cave. But that's a ways off. - -------------------------------------------------------- - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Amy Rupp" To: Sent: Tuesday, June 17, 2003 11:10 PM Subject: RE: seven-seas The Cavester.../The List > > I also seem to remember Mac saying that he wanted Cave to > > write a song for > > him or was it for him to write a > > song for Cave??
