I've done everything short of going to England, including falling asleep in front of a microfilm reader of old parish records ;-) (Hey, it was quiet.....) ;-) Oh do I love naan, but it's all carbs, and the rage around here is the Atkins diet. But how else to sop up the curry? God, I want chicken tikka masala and I'm going to get Reese's peanut butter cups if I'm lucky. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Jun 2003 20:37:04 +0100 From: "Noose Boy" Subject: RE: OTOT seven-seas The Art of Mac aka Mac Art(hur) Good idea, just keep far far away from the Norfolk and Suffolk, strange 'people' - -----Original Message----- From: owner-seven-seas@smoe.org [mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Peter Charbonneau Sent: 12 June 2003 18:38 To: seven-seas@smoe.org; seven-seas@smoe.org Subject: Re: OTOT seven-seas The Art of Mac aka Mac Art(hur) Have no fear.... Not me! :-) No interest at all. If I had to pick a big city it'd be Manchester or Liverpool. "Do you think the only river in England is the Thames?" Oh, I'll do the museums and that sort of stuff in London some day, but on the first visit, I will go straight west or north to visit friends and family. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Jun 2003 14:45:16 -0500 From: "Amy Rupp" Subject: RE: OTOT seven-seas The Art of Mac aka Mac Art(hur) > Plenty to do and see in London, much more to see than Liverpool or > Manchester but the most beautiful place in England is The > Lake District Gosh darn you Raj, for the very first time I reached for the web browser to launch it only to remember it ain't going to do anything :-( I'm also interested in the High Peak district in Derbyshire and this place where several counties come together, that you have to walk up to. Kinda like skiing at Heavenly in Lake Tahoe where you go atop a mountain and have part of your skis in Nevada and part in California ;-) ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Jun 2003 20:58:40 +0100 From: "Matt H" Subject: Re: OTOT seven-seas The Art of Mac aka Mac Art(hur) >Kinda like skiing at Heavenly in Lake Tahoe where you go atop >a mountain and have part of your skis in Nevada and part in >California ;-) Can't remember exact details of the story, but there is a pub on the Dorset/Wiltshire border, where the Public Bar is in one county and the Lounge Bar is in the other. Back in the days when the government started tinkering with licencing laws, the pub found itself in a situation where, at certain times one bar had to close due to its County Council rules, whilst the other one could stay open as it was under the jurisdiction of the other County Council. So as the Landlord called "Time, Gentlemen please" in the one bar, everyone would just traipse across the corridor into the other bar for another drink! Also agreed that Derbyshire is nice (this is neither west nor east, more "in the middle"!). Many a happy childhood hour spent scaling the peaks, jumping in the peat bogs on top of Kinderscout or sliding down the muddy slopes of Mam Tor. Memories, memories.....
