Not really......I go to these 'large' family reunions every year.....and I never know who belongs to who! Firstly, because 3/4 of everyone there's related, (the other 1/4 are married in....and that's just a hypothetical figure) so nearly everyone looks like they could belong to anyone. So...there's a wild stab at why they can't figure you out! Whatever......I'm more inclined to believe you were hatched if that's what you 'really' want us to think. This Week I would liketo expressed my Mac Rant on both the Bunnymen amd Comsat Angels List, although less serious that my Morrissey one. This is in response to a posting on the Comsat Angels mailing list that I'm on. I consider the 'Sats to be one of most under rated and underappreciated band of the early 80's along with similar bands like The Sound, The Chameleons, Sad Lovers & Giants and a few others. >NME, 8 february 1992 > >Singles reviewed by Ian McCulloch >(the man who like to say " shite " ) > >DJ JAZZY JEFF & THE FRESH PRINCE - >The THings That U Do ( Jive ) > >" That was shite. A lot of this sort of stuff is >quite good but that wasn't. I hate jazzy people >at the best of the times but that guy is wearing a >bad shades. They sound like complete chancers anyway. The Comsat Angels of >rap. " Thanks for that, Mileta. Now we know where the Bunnymen stand on the 'Sats. Knowing what we know about Mac The Mouth. It's typical slagging off the best bands at the time (killing off the competition). Funny when I got Will Sergeant's "Weird As Fish" a couple of weeks ago, I asked him if he knew of the 'Sats and possibly Steven Fellows "Mood X" and he never replied back. After listening to McCulloch's "Slideling" cd. It's very good, but my biggest complaint with Slideling is the same complaint of the bunnymen lately (with their last two albums is that although they are great) there is a lack of depth or seeming depth to the lyrics. It's very interesting that Mac does so much vocally with so little lyrically. Although, I love "What Are You Going To Do With Your Life," it doesm't hold a candle to the firstfour Bunnymen or the first three Comsat Angels masterpieces. I know we don't take Mac The Mouth seriously. Funny With Mac The Mouth he has all this praise of late for Fun Lovin' Criminals, Oasis, Coldplay, etc and dissing the really great bands of his prime -- U2, Simple Minds, Comsat Angels, The Sound, etc. The only great band he praised of the 80's taht he praised was The Smiths (finally, the Mouth, makes an accurate statement). Although, I barely agree with his praising of his influences like Velver Underground, Bowie, and Cohen, they are his influence, not mine. This rant started in my mind several years ago, when Mac gave an interview either in South America or Portugal and basically was dissing the fans and the interviewer who was a young honest fan doing a small local interview and not some British weekly or monthly rag.
