But the point as a musician is to go *watch them play it* because when you hear it, you think "that is fucking impossible to play without overdub" and then you go see them and your chin hits the floor. Especially Geddy. I mean, who's looking at his FACE, I'm watching the fretboard! And if anyone'd met him in person..... let's just say while he's not going to challenge Mac for SexGod status, he's not *bad* looking.... I think he just doesn't photograph well! If you've got the FACE down, then who needs a pretty face? Hmmmmm..... for a bassist I guess you'd need the ACEG down ;-) ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 01 Jun 2003 23:43:00 -0400 From: Red Subject: Re: seven-seas Ramblings At 10:16 PM 6/1/03 -0500, you wrote: >Definitely >NOT noose music, and not particularly emotional. I guess that says it all then..... coz if they don't jerk some emotions.... then how good can they really be? And why bother? But there are a few songs on Mysterio too that I could live without.....but I love all the remixes of the songs on the B-sides of the singles. And Honeydrip is just awesome. And Lover Lover Lover......... maybe I wouldn't really say I LOVE that album...but I like it a lot. And i haven't really heard the new one enough yet anyways to make a judgement that harsh.....but it didn't thrill me on first listen. One listener spent a good deal of time organising Echo songs to fit a timeless and much-revered concept, which some will consider way cool, and others won't give a shit. see: http://www.sacredcenters.com/chakras.html Picture looks a bit like the _Reverberation_ cover, dunnit? ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 01 Jun 2003 23:49:01 -0400 From: Red Subject: Re: seven-seas Ramblings At 10:18 PM 6/1/03 -0500, you wrote: > >Les really needs to release a solo album, eh? :-) Wot's that got to do with the price of sausage rolls at Euston Station????? But ya know....now that you mention it... I guess all the stuff I liked best has him on bass. And I never even thought about it before!! hhmmm! Makes ya wonder why Mac thinks bass players are so worthless. *grumble* Red ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 1 Jun 2003 22:42:29 -0500 (CDT) From: Amy Moseley Rupp Subject: Re: seven-seas Ramblings > I guess that says it all then..... > coz if they don't jerk some emotions.... > then how good can they really be? > And why bother? Cos if I went around emotional all the time I wouldn't get *anything done*! There's something to be said for the rational, and I don't expect every piece of music I like to evoke the same *kind* of emotion in me. I am most sensitive to fear, grief, guilt, loss, love -- and you'll notice that four of those five are "negative" though necessary emotions. But I *need* a sense of competency, of connecting to the world instead of the self within, a drive to complete and perfect things -- and Rush brings out this side of me. - --Amy ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 01 Jun 2003 23:55:51 -0400 From: Red Subject: Re: seven-seas Ramblings OT again At 10:29 PM 6/1/03 -0500, you wrote: >Especially Geddy. He's not????? Well, I guess I never really looked at him.....coz his voice always made me turn my head away suddenly.....to puke! hahahahhaa Sorry......but I just can't handle him, and no amount of guitar playing/wailing can fix that. I was tempted to try for them so I could SHRED THEM UP but decided not to be a killjoy to some demented fan ;-) ;-) Actually I also thought of KP. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 02 Jun 2003 00:29:23 -0400 From: Red Subject: Re: seven-seas Ramblings At 10:14 PM 6/1/03 -0500, you wrote: >Off the top of >my head, "Lost and Found" and "All My Life" are BunnyFaves, Lost and Found????????????? > I always think of the overplayed >"Lips" and "New Direction," I didn't realize New Direction got any airplay! The music is fucking awesome........on the whole album............
