Glad to hear that the > early live stuff sounded better. Makes me feel better. Rush is perfect live :-P I'm not even *sure* *how* we got off onto this tangent other than Matt finding some good shows. Out of the many shows they did, I'm sure that there were some that were outstanding. Morrissey stood me up in 1991 when he cancelled Austin after filming / recording _Live In Dallas_. Depressed me no end -- the cancellation only came when we were standing at the doors waiting to go in. Rush would *NEVER* do that to their fans -- Geddy'd have to have lost his voice, because they've played with the flu and with stomach viruses rather than let the fans down. > Matt, I'm not an eloquent writer as I tend to write from an emotional > viewpoint and off the cuff. But this rant has been bugging me since reading > "The Severed Alliance" after the breakup, so I guess thoughts ruminating in > my head and soul for over 15 years, should be eloquent. Thank you for the > kind words and the name of the boot, I'll have to look for it. I don't think expressing one's opinion in an emotional manner *requires* the label "rant." If this is "all about the music, man," then it's an emotional and not entirely logical area *anyway*. I may not like every opinion, but I'll uphold anyone's right to their opinion. And the more often you rant, the better you get at it, and therefore the more eloquent you can be ;-) > Amy, I was also bullied for both having handicaps and being too smart. Now that'd make an interesting poll question. "Were you bullied as a child / teenager by either parents / peers and do you think that that influenced your like of noose music?" LOL I ain't touching the smart issue. I did that a while back and if you weren't here you should have seen the hoo-ha. :-) However, I'll back atcha and pose a question: Do you think Bunnyfans have an aggregate intelligence level higher than the "average?" I do.... if only cos the Bunnymen are/were college music in America! > a) The Grey Album > b) Reverberation The Grey Album. In part because it came out at a happier time of my life, and in part because of Ian's voice. I've nothing against Noel's and I wouldn't say he's a no-mark. OTOH I see both the right to reform the band AND Ian's bristle at the idea. NO one would have been an acceptable singer for Mk II, I don't think, to Mac. So in a way we come around to a *similar* issue as with The Smiths: it obviously was more marketable to keep the Echo name as Mk II even though Ian protested. The thing is: I am glad Ian and Will have patched that up, it's in the past, and we have all of the music. > 3) Which is the best Mac solo effort? > > a) Candleland > b) Mysterio > c) Slideling > > I haven't heard Slideling yet. Should be coming in this week. Although I > imagine that it would be tough to be Candleland though. It would be very difficult indeed to *be* Candleland :-P because I consider that work excellent and to get a good Candleland II would be hard. When I heard Mac was doing a solo album, I never *dreamed* it would be as good as _Slideling_ is. I'll give CLand a listen tonight too, because I've not heard it in a while, but ..... I am actually leaning towards _Slideling_. Chalk up _Mysterio _ as sophomore slump for Mac -- but boy was the Bunnymen's sophomore album ever good! :-) Though supposedly the biggest UK hit is "Seven Seas" -- from the fourth album, and the name of this list :-) ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 1 Jun 2003 21:41:56 -0500 (CDT) From: Amy Moseley Rupp Subject: Re: seven-seas Mac's Uncut Bowie track > I was going to say the same thing but the self flagellation with the > Smiths led me otherwise You just like a different *sort* of noose music, Noose Boy! Better the "great minds" than "minds in the gutter," eh? :-) Or is it just..... that we've all "hung around" each other too much? LOL.... Yeah, B-flat minor even (downtuned so it's easier to play). They certainly have a unique fusion! Find your song and a new CD burning opportunity Hmmm.... Gotta love this one: http://www.okc.cc.ok.us/stigert/html/echo_and_the_bunnymen1.html Figures that my favourite song would be at the lowest chakra -- "survival -- grounding -- physical well being" -- and would be a water/taste/tongue thing. _Ocean Rain_ is most heavily represented here -- and _HUH_ is represented most heavily in the earth/smell/nose category. Hmmmm..... I can tell I'm going to have to burn CDs. If I add the appropriate incense, I could give them as presents to the hippies I know! - --Amy ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V2 #357 ********************************
