Yeah, what's up with the "spinster of this parish" crap? We all know Mac's temperamental as hell, and when I was reading the post about him being in an odd mood -- well, if he *has* gotten on the wagon, it must be very different to perform. Possibly he self-medicated before shows for a reason -- maybe he gets nervous, maybe he gets stressed.... If you can't say "boo" without the guy abandoning what has to be one of everyone's favourite songs, it's he who has the problem, not anyone in the crowd. That's what roadies and bouncers are for -- to handle anyone who's a problem. Oh, and did he have any candy cigarettes? :-) :-) :-) Sheesh, please tell me *someone's* happy. The album is wonderful, though I'm in a funk cos I can't make any of the dates. - --Amy ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 May 2003 14:39:37 -0500 (CDT) From: amyr@jump.net (Amy Moseley Rupp) Subject: Re: seven-seas Last night's show - setlist > Whoah, Loo! Does everyone get drunk before shows there? God, I feel uncool -- I never drink heavily before a show, because I'm there to listen and to remember, not to forget. One beer maybe. Peace and love y'all, and I'll wear something pink on Saturday. :-) Wish I could be there :-) ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 May 2003 20:48:31 +0100 From: "Martyn White" Subject: RE: seven-seas Last night's show - setlist Oh dear. It is a euphamism, applied in this instance to mean a memeber of this list, intended to be humourous, that I have used previously on this list with no adverse comment, although it was, if memory serves me right, used about a male. I guess I wasn't being PC enough for some people, when applied to a woman, albeit someone I consider a friend. As I obviously can't trust myself to make any remark, however innocently intended, without cassing offence, I won't try agtain. It has been over 4 years but Goodbye. Nooooooooooo!!!!!! It just struck me funny..... I've been poring over literally thousands of "spinster of this parish" records in the last few months.... Now I know why *I*'m obviously too sensitive today: there are these huge fires in Mexico that the land barons light to do their sugar cane burn, and well, if it doesn't rain, guess who gets all the smoke? I've been living in choking smoke for days, and my STBE husband is withholding $1500 that belongs to me (that's called STEALING, but hey). I'm sorry, *I'm* touchy, and it's due to months and months of CRAP and wishing desperately that I could go to the Mac gigs and that I could go to England and that I didn't have to sit here instead while my husband throws our life savings at the legal system to make my life a living hell. I'd much rather be getting pissed out of my mind with you guys. Please don't go :-( ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 May 2003 15:08:02 -0500 (CDT) From: amyr@jump.net (Amy Moseley Rupp) Subject: seven-seas a bit of a Friday lark So the crop they've been burning in Mexico is sugar cane laced with lovely pesticides; after days of this you cough, hack, sneeze. Your car is covered in smut and everyone is just grouchy as hell. My boss said wistfully, "Why couldn't they have accidentally set the pot fields on fire instead?" ROTFL Now *that* would be an improvement over what we have going on currently. However, I'm sure that they'd find the water to put *that* fire out. Either that or Bush & the war on drugs folks would go over and do it. But hey, if it's just a few million Americans' lungs that are getting pounded, we don't offer. Until it rains in Mexico, and a LOT, we get to breathe this shit. And there's nothing like it being 94 F and smoky. It's like being barbecued alive. - --Amy, dreaming of ganja fields going Up In Smoke ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 May 2003 21:26:35 +0100 From: "stevie g" Subject: seven-seas re:- Ian McNabb is one of the most under-rated songwriters of the past 20 years ..................................... .. not only that he is one of the greatest entertainers. he could rock any crowd from bunch of old punks to an over 70's tea dance. you're gonna hate me for saying this but that is where mac fails - he's not an ''entertainer'' in the true sense of the word.
