I don't think it's sunk, yet ;-) But no, I'm flying. :-) The fucking minute the ink is dry on the papers and I can get the time off work, hasta la vista, baby, England here I come! And even better.... my boss is an Anglophile who's scheduled our industry's conference in England and who's said I could come with. Now that's WORK :-) I might have to be tied down to the seat, but.... ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 May 2003 14:42:27 -0500 (CDT) From: amyr@jump.net (Amy Moseley Rupp) Subject: Re: seven-seas PIB > PIB ? > love that. > > I used to refuse to admit when my co-workers ask me if i was goth > when i listen to things like joy division, som, l&r, jamc, iggy pop and > others. > now I can say I was just a person in black :) Though here, circa 1991, the PIBs were blamed for all sorts of dark witchcraft, animal sacrifice, and even murder.... (rolls eyes) We/they (I married in 1991 and ended my career) were just club kids. :-) Do a google search on the Yogurt Shop Murders. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 May 2003 14:44:52 -0500 (CDT) From: amyr@jump.net (Amy Moseley Rupp) Subject: Re: seven-seas remasters > I do, however, have the hope and charity of a bottle of A1 steak sauce. > And the forgiveness of a jar of low-cal mayonnaise. Hey, I *like* A-1! :-) Nope, you can *actually drive* to England via the Bering Straits and a coupla ferries. Now, I don't think I could get THAT much time off work, but I was touched that one of my friends didn't write me off as daft and instead offered that solution! - --Amy, who'll be screaming above the waves ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 02 May 2003 15:55:11 -0400 From: Red Subject: Re: seven-seas PIB At 02:42 PM 5/2/03 -0500, you wrote: > >Do a google search on the Yogurt Shop Murders. Wrong use of the imperative. The police had this theory that it was the weird kids dressed in black who'd killed four teenaged girls in a horrific way -- the details are awful. They cracked down on anyone "loitering" eg clubbing, walking around, and imposed a curfew on anyone under 18 being in the entertainment district after 10 pm. Witch hunt. I'm still not sure who really did it. They have some teenagers convicted of the crime, but a lot of people think that two of the girls' (sisters) stepfather did it to collect insurance. One of two absolutely awful crimes that occurred here in December 1991. I can only think of one other that comes close, and that's in 18 years of being here. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 02 May 2003 16:09:23 -0400 From: Red Subject: Re: seven-seas PIB At 02:56 PM 5/2/03 -0500, you wrote: >> >Do a google search on the Yogurt Shop Murders. >> >> Why? > >Wrong use of the imperative. There were also a tv novel some years later that had a character that was goth. They showed the goth as a patetic guy who goes to the cemitery at night all in black with umbrella to read poems to other goths. (maybe this is one of the things i don't admit i was one of them) I admit I had friends that wear like Robert Smith all day (remember I live in a tropical country) with long overcoats, black or violet lipsticks and boots (the kind we here name as coturno).
