Disagree. Went out to the car to listen to it (and I'm at work!) and while the bass line is two double notes, there is no slide, and the notes never go higher. I *play* bass, and I suppose the similarity didn't hit me because it's not identical enough. JD used a lot of double notes as well. Best ask Ian or the bass player, no? :-) I hate it when reviewers find *one* thing that annoys them about a record and use it to slag the whole thing. It's not enough of a ripoff for me. Thematically, it's along the lines of "Everybody Hurts" but hey, that didn't get a mention. - --Amy ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Apr 2003 09:57:38 -0500 (CDT) From: amyr@jump.net (Amy Moseley Rupp) Subject: Re: seven-seas Sunday Times review > Best ask Ian or the bass player, no? :-) I hate it when reviewers > find *one* thing that annoys them about a record and use it to slag > the whole thing. Bad taste to followup one's one post, but hey, that's never stopped me before :-) Thematically also similar to Sarah McLachlan's "Angel." ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Apr 2003 16:13:17 +0100 From: "Barry Whiting" Subject: Re: seven-seas Mac Liverpool show - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stu Bird" > Thinking of post gig.. Anyone any ideas ? We were thinking of either Krazy House of The Magnet. I think the first is more indie/alternative, but we went to The Magnet after the McNabb show at xmas and it had a real easy vibe, but the music was a bit clubby.. > > Stu An Irish bar and drinking into oblivion ??? Not been to the Krazy House in years and years - unique for mixing The Divine Comedy into Rage Against The Machine. Krazy Kats. - -- Barry ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Apr 2003 16:39:49 +0100 From: "Noose Boy" Subject: seven-seas FW: Get Ian McCulloch's "Slideling" for GBP 9.99 - -----Original Message----- From: Amazon.co.uk [mailto:product-announce1@amazon.co.uk] Sent: 28 April 2003 15:46 To: microscopiccog@hotmail.com Subject: Get Ian McCulloch's "Slideling" for GBP 9.99 Greetings from Amazon.co.uk Editor, Robert Burrow We've noticed that many of our customers who have purchased "Crystal Days 1979-1999" also enjoy music by Ian McCulloch. For this reason, you might like to know that the new CD by Ian McCulloch, "Slideling", is now available. You can order your copy for GBP 9.99 by following the link below. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00008A7J0/ref=mm_snpa_t "Slideling" arrives as a somewhat unexpected third solo offering from Echo and the Bunnymen's frontman Ian McCulloch. On this evidence, however, it is clear that you may be able to take Ian McCulloch out of Echo and the Bunnymen, but you can't take the Echo and the Bunnymen out of McCulloch. Despite assistance from both Jon Buckland and Chris Martin of Coldplay (particularly on the subtly persuasive single "Sliding") and even actor John Simm, circumventing the Bunnymen's shadowy, superstitious pop signature was not going to be easy for one of that bands' two integral players.
