If an album does something for you.... There are different levels an album can "do" something for me, but the biggest is the music, and I'm an absolute sucker for strings. It therefore isn't surprising that I'd be completely besotten by OR. It's the album that made me take up violin at age 28 (I'd been denied lessons as a child). That was a good year, and my husband completely surprised me with a violin as a birthday present. (The violin is not a very good one, BUT.... it'll do.) Of course, one of the first things I learned to do was scratch out the intro to "Silver." From a musical standpoint, if one likes orchestral instrumentation, there is no way HUH can compare to OR. > I think our tastes...the things that 'speak' to us... come largely out > of our particular circumstances and experiences. Yes, I've said many times that "Ocean Rain" speaks to me like no other song does. But there are loads of people who feel that way about "Zimbo/All My Colours." And I need to say that HUH came into my life at a very difficult time, and is full of lines that break my heart. "With A Hip" is probably my favourite song by far. Zimbo I have to class with Joy Division; for *ME*, it's noose music, and I have to watch how much of that I can listen to these days. - --Amy ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== [demime 0.97c removed an attachment of type application/ms-tnef which had a name of winmail.dat] ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Apr 2003 10:41:45 -0700 From: "Ivan Smith" Subject: Re: seven-seas Re: altnet [kazaa, etc]. then try kazaalite http://www.kazaalite.com all the kazaa none of the spyware - -I - ----- Original Message ----- From: "stevie g" To: Sent: Friday, April 25, 2003 10:23 AM Subject: seven-seas Re: altnet [kazaa, etc]. > http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/56/25365.html > > possible virus and security risks with kazaa. > > not sure myself, take a look. > > stevie g. > > > > ====================================== > http://www.bunnymenlist.com > > ====================================== > - --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Even if I'm not downloading, and no one is uploading from me, it must be doing a LOT of chatter to the P2P network. I'll only run it if I can't find something on WinMX, and even then I don't like the GUI as much. I tend to only need to run kazaa to find very Europe-centric files, so I assume from that that kazaa has penetrated the European (I'm including the UK here) market more than WinMX. I'm a bit reluctant to do a new install of *any* kazaa sw right now. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Apr 2003 11:11:22 -0700 From: "Ivan Smith" Subject: seven-seas kazaa/mac downloads.. funny isn't it how an announcement (forwarded from the label, incidentally) of free downloads from an album that's not out until Monday, or May 6 in the States, can turn into a bitchfest about file-sharing software.... - --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
