Supposedly strictly bunny related material. Red" Maybe my mistake, but way back when I thought I was given the option to go to seven-seas-moderated and I thought I'd chosen it. Anyone care to tell me if I'm not, if the moderated list still exists, what the "supposedly" above alludes to if anything and what I need to do to sub to it? thanks paul _________________________________________________________________ Use MSN Messenger to send music and pics to your friends http://www.msn.co.uk/messenger ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Apr 2003 22:46:20 -0400 From: Red Subject: Re: seven-seas OT Matts native foodstuff At 03:19 AM 4/25/03 +0100, you wrote: >of a pint of beer with the balance made up of head foreigners>) We call it head too, here! ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Apr 2003 19:41:15 -0700 From: "Mike & Andrea" Subject: Re: seven-seas-digest V2 #193 I agree with Red (and Ted about side 2 of OR, ) What a ridiculous statement!@! A bit suspect, what a crock! IMNSHO--OR has 2 awful songs by bunnymen standards (Nocturnal Me and Yo Yo Man) . That's 22% of the CD. There's absolutely no way this could be their best work given that: HUH and Porcupine and the 1st Lp are all better complete pieces of work than OR. Even though OR contains some absolutely magnificent moments and I do love 78 % of it. Both crappy songs were on side 1 of the old LP format by the way!! Mike H ps-Just traded in Mogwai's My Father My King CD. Hopefully their new one will be an improvement!! And I hope Radiohead's new CD is better than the last 2. Maybe they found their Guitars!! > > > I think liking any of the Bunnymen albums more than OR is > >a bit suspect.... > > Suspect of WHAT???? > That's an absurd statement! > Ocean Rain is a great album....but I like HUH better. > What am I suspect of? I don't geddit! > > > Red > side 2 of Ocean Rain is the best side of any record ever but both HUH & Porcupine hit me harder & deeper as complete works......probably just cuz i cant always listen to Thorn of Crowns everytime through...... but really...its a difference of such small magnitude amidst such beauty & perfection ...really impossible to measure or explain...I seem to like of my cats a little more than the others too...i guess its kinda like that. - - -Ted ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Apr 2003 22:51:25 -0400 From: Red Subject: Re: seven-seas-digest V2 #193 At 02:25 AM 4/25/03 +0000, you wrote: >Anyone care to tell me if I'm not, You're not...coz if you were, your mails would say so in the subject line of your replies. Well....'supposedly' the only stuff that gets thru to that list is only bunny related material...but I'm not on that list so I can't say anything but the word 'supposedly'! :-) If it still exists, all you have to do is send a message saying subscribe seven-seas-moderated to majordomo@smoe.org. I don't geddit! We've been talking about people having differing realities based upon what they like. As in, if someone likes .... I dunno, Whitesnake, I think their reality in that area is NOT compatible with mine. Things that I believe to be truth versus opinion are not likely to be shared by them. *suspect* was a gentle word -- I honestly don't GET how anyone could objectively prefer HUH to OR. I never have. But I'm only SUSPECT of whether or not our realities differ because I *know* enough people who *do* prefer the former to respect that opinion. I don't even bother debating the issue, really. If I am going to blindly follow *anyone's* opinion on the Bunnymen, it's going to be Matt's, for obvious reasons -- he's extremely well versed, and I like him. And yet we disagree completely on the HUH vs OR debate. So if you believe I was trying to be disrespectful of your choice, you have to remember that I'd also be disrespectful of his choice, AND many other people that I respect on this list. In fact, the *coolest* (in my opinion) people seem to prefer HUH to OR, and I often see it as a bit of a mini-personality test: are you cool, or are you like me? :-) - --Amy ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Apr 2003 23:19:10 -0500 (CDT) From: amyr@jump.net (Amy Moseley Rupp) Subject: Re: seven-seas OT Matts native foodstuff > > Yeah, but apparently a lot of cooks DON'T. There's a lot of potential innuendo here. I'm too tired to rise to the occasion :-) > No it's just a name (normally fondly used, well with a smile anyway) The > person referred to doesn't have to be fat. Hmmmmm..... Should we trust KP, my precious? (laughs) > I always thought that was something to do with Jesus and Bethlehem and all > that jazz. As far as I know Stockport isn't the new Bethlehem and Norwich > isn't the new Nazareth............and as far as I know the closest Matt gets > to Messiah is Mess ;-) It has to do with the Holy Roman Catholic Church. The words "native" and "nativity" have to do with *birth* and not where one resides. The Romans spoke Latin and therefore got to name things like the nativity. We retain it these days in words like "prenatal" and "antenatal" -- before birth. And of course if you look at the Roman(ce) languages, French, Italian, Spanish.... they have the "natal" root in their words for birth. I find it amusing that the English say "born and bred" and we say "born and raised." I mean, doesn't the breeding part come *before* the birth part? At least here it does.... hmmmmm.... Matt's quite neat, actually, the only mess he's probably been near are military meals. I'm an *awful* *awful* slob. I have to force myself not to be. I was just thinking tonight, one drawback about working is that I now have more laundry and more dressy laundry to do. And I hate laundry. With a PASSION! So... perhaps Stockport and Norwich ain't Biblical, but there is that nationalistic Jerusalem bit going on. Where exactly in England's green hills was that supposed to have taken place? :-) > Yeh the differences thru the UK time zones is amazing in my zone (Eastern > farmer time) we tend to eat mainly root crop vegetables during the winter > with a little cereal from may to September. Of course when Johnny Foreigner comes visiting we get out > the old Fish and chips and curry and kebabs .....and friggin High Tea just > for a larf...coz we loikes a larf. The idea of such a small place having different time zones is a riot. Another Anglophile friend of mine approved of my idea to tow your Islands into the Gulf of Mexico so that we could visit you more easily, but he was chagrined because I told him that y'all wouldn't like the weather. But you'd do a fine job buffering the coastal US from hurricanes. (LOL) Besides, you forgot the scrumpy for the Western local yokels, and what do the southerners eat, Hmmmmmmm? Oh yes, them wot's surnamed Windsor have the high tea all the time, as well as the chicken tikka :-) - --Amy. Two days ago I needed a sweater.
