Not sure how the Amnesiac album was spawned.. There was a lot of talk about the dozens of tracks recorded in the Kid a sessions and the "best of the rest" made it onto Amnesiac. I can't make up my mind with that one. There are bits in it that wash right over me, but there are also other bits that really do it. I'm thinking that they could have released say a double album Kid A, or as was also muted at the time, a series of 10" eps covering all the tracks on both. Trouble is, after the huge success of Ok Computer, there was always gonna be the knockers regardless of their next move.. human nature and all that. I like the new album a lot, and I can see the progression ( or regression, whatever you care to use ! ) from the last releases. I think the forthcoming live shows will prove to be deciding factor on their focus. Cheers, Stu Ted Turner wrote:actually...Kid A is more Bowie....the first time i heard it struck me as a brilliant new sound of Hunky Dory-esque emotion & tone (Bewlay Bros, Eight Line Poem etc) thru the filter/influence of LOTS of Warp/Skam records stuff (Autechre/(early) Boards of Canada etc)...classic! & perfect for its time!...but it got a little boring/a little tired by the time Amnesiac came out....in what seemed like 3 months later! Yikes... Havnt heard the new one yet..... you guys buying Swell Maps CD's out there yet? - -Ted - --------------------------------- Yahoo! If it's made from any other fruit, it ain't > proper cider. I *eat* Granny Smiths. I don't DRINK them. I have switched over to only liking Somerset-made cider. I can't drink the other stuff as it's too sweeeeeeet. That means there are two stores in town that have the stuff I want. My boss just yelled out to no one in particular that it's Eeyore's birthday this weekend (already?). Everyone's now talking about where to park. Ten years ago that wouldn't have been a problem. 20-30% of the high tech work force out of work and we *still* have traffic problems. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Apr 2003 17:46:00 -0500 (CDT) From: amyr@jump.net (Amy Moseley Rupp) Subject: Re: seven-seas To Mac, or not to Mac! - GIGS > > For example, I'll bet that a fair few know what I mean by > > "Cheshire cat" but obviously not everyone. > > Is it a reference to cheese??? NO. It's a mixed-dialect play-on-words nickname for a "cat" from Cheshire -- someone from Cheshire, usually male. You know, it's times like this when I really miss Galaimpter. I loved his abstruse ramblings. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V2 #191 ********************************
