Not knowing Barnum & Bailey's Can You Feel It, I'm not able to hear the similarity. Whether or not the song has to go, I am not sure, but Love In Veins *is* my least favourite track. Strangely, the press love it (or at least a couple of the ones I have read do). I suppose it depends what we're expecting, really. The simple fact is, it's a Mac solo album, not a Bunnymen album, so perhaps he decided that he wants to use that excuse to exorcise his Pop Idol demons ;-) That's actually a little unkind....whilst there are undoubtably some very poppy tunes on there (the aforementioned, plus She Sings All My Life spring immediately to mind), there are also some extremely good Bunnymenesque tracks. I've already talked about Kansas, plus Seasons sounds as though it was recorded during the Evergreen era. I do tend to prefer songs where the guitars are cranked up a bit, so High Wires and Stake Your Claim (which is nagging at me....what the hell does it sound like? Bowie's Heroes?) are also favourites.... >i noticed someone menitongin radiohead... Yep, that was me.... >i was able to hear an advanced copy of hail to the thief... >i dunno, it is not great and not horrible....about >equal to the last two albums...intersting but kinda disapointing overall... Exactly my own opinion, though I think it's marginally better than the last two albums. It's not. It's fantastic -- so long as they continue to stay away from the Yes-tribute act they became post-The Bends, that's fine by me. - -- Barry - -- Barry Whiting barry@urquell.freeserve.co.uk ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Apr 2003 12:06:50 +0100 From: matt.harkness@bt.com Subject: RE: seven-seas Back on Sevenseas and Ian'snew album >It's not. Do I assume then, Barry, that you're not an OK Computer fan? I've always been amazed at the amount of lavish praise heaped upon that album (wasn't it No.1 in Q Magazine's All-time Top 100 one year?). Whilst I do think it's a good album (far superior to the two that followed it), it ain't a patch on The Bends. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Apr 2003 07:57:21 -0400 From: Red Subject: Re: seven-seas To Mac, or not to Mac! - GIGS At 03:50 PM 4/23/03 -0500, you wrote: > >Loo was saying that the train strike might affect >travel to Sheffield for the gig.
