I'm surprised that none of the reviews I've seen have picked up on the track "Kansas". It's easily the best (new) song I've heard this year.... I would agree that they are excellent live and I'd go to see them any time. However, I cannot sit through an album without getting bored. I saw Mull Historical Society the other night, and their support was The Zutons who are on the same label as, and quite similar to, The Coral, and also from Merseyside. IMHO, they are far better than Than Coral, although I'd have to wait for album to give a proper comparison. Stu Amy Moseley Rupp wrote: How big *are* The Coral over there? I was never that impressed with their studio work, but then I saw them live and was *really* impressed. Are they mouthy like Mac? The bassist (on stage) was bitching about how some journalist here had given them a shite review or interview -- as usual couldn't make out exactly what he was saying through the Scouse. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== - --------------------------------- Yahoo! High Wires comes in second on my list.... Kansas, to me, sounds as though it would not have been out of place as a "Rust" b-side (which, if you know my opinion of the Rust b- sides, is high praise indeed) Echo and the Bunnymen | the official website: http://www.bunnymen.com ___________________________________________________________ Get your own Web-based E-mail Service at http://www.zzn.com ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Apr 2003 23:21:37 +0100 (BST) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Stu=20Bird?= Subject: RE: seven-seas The Coral Now Pete Wilkinson Don't get me started on Broudie again Raj !!! :-) Anyway, speaking of Cast, I was at a local 2nd hand vinyl/cd shop on the weekend and found a promo copy ( real cdr promo with a white Viper Records sticker on it ) of Pete Wilkinson's Aviator release Huxley Pig Pt 1 .. for the princely sum of 1.90 UKP ( cheap ass s.o.b. that I am). Only played it a couple of times, but I'm really impressed with it. Maybe a bit on the short side at 35 mins ( unless mine's not the complete album ), but on the whole, a damn fine listen.
