Are the goths gonna make it >to the venue on time ???? Quit yer worrying....all the goths made it okay - the place was absolutely fucking packed. Not that anyone could see anything - for some reason, perhaps artistic, that escapes me right now, they filled the entire venue (and I mean the entire venue - the bar, the toilets etc etc) with thick smoke so that you couldn't see fuck all on the stage, save for the occasional glimpse of someone. The voice certainly *sounded* like Eldritch, but whether or not it was actually him, who knows?! I'm being a little unfair. Aurally they were superb, with a setlist running right the way from 'Alice' (which was fucking awesome) and 'Temple Of Love', through First/Last/Always, Floodland (though no This Corrosion, which was disappointing), Vision Thing (though I got *really* pissed off with all the cackling and giggling during 'I Was Wrong'), to new songs whose names I don't know ('cept one of them is called 'Summer'). My only complaint was that perhaps the voice could've been slightly higher in the mix, but that seems to be a common thing anyway.... They're playing Manchester tonight, Glasgow tomorrow, then two nights in their Leeds hometown on Saturday & Sunday. Like Stu said, at #20 it's a bit steep, but I'd recommend it to anyone who's around on those evenings.....(but don't bother turning up early for the support band, Oceansize....they were shite) ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Apr 2003 11:51:49 +0100 From: "Noose Boy" Subject: RE: seven-seas-digest V2 #150 Vinyl copies of 'Heaven Up Here' and Crocodiles currently in our Oxfam music shop for #1.99 each if anyone is interested - -----Original Message----- From: owner-seven-seas@smoe.org [mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Chris Adams Sent: 17 April 2003 19:02 To: seven-seas@smoe.org Subject: Re:seven-seas-digest V2 #150 The first five albums are being re-mixed and re-released sometime in the not-too-distant future. Not sure what the timeline is, but I think they're supposed to be out by November of this year, in accord with the 25th anniversary. Incidentally, FILTER magazine contacted me last month to do a follow-up story on the Turquoise Days book, to write a 25th anniversary retrospective on the Bunnymen, and to capitalize on the release of Mac's Slideleing. The article, which features an interview I did with Mac a couple of weeks ago, will be in next month's issue--the one with Blur on the cover--due out May 8th. - --Chris A. Any chance of re-masters on the first four albums? Compared to the current crop of 24bit releases the classic Bunnymen discs are sounding a touch tired. Re-releases would really make my day. Anyone?
