Pul-eeze, if you can remember the serial number on the note, surely you can remember that phone number.... wasn't it 867 5309.... no, that is one too many digits... how about 926 537? :-) - --Amy "work is much less fun than talking to you guys but it pays more" ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 Apr 2003 18:47:43 +0100 (BST) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Stu=20Bird?= Subject: Re: seven-seas Re: CDWOW Always peace here, You know me.. If Mac were to buy all the cds himself and then sell them himself via ebay, they could be sold as second hand, thus earning him the full price he charged for them as "second hand". I thouhgt about this after ordering Will's new cd. A straight payment to the man himself via Paypal, and I received an opened cd ( technically second hand ) with writing on it ( heh heh).. I'm all for that.. It's a brilliant idea, and there must be a few tax loop-holes too in there meaning that the artist can really maximise their earning potential.. That's it.. Perfect way to sell your stuff .. okay, on a small scale, but with a good network etc who knows?. If you get it cheaper from a particular retailer, surely it is > that retailer's profit that is cut, not the artist's royalty payment? This is the typical way royalties are handled -- on per-unit-sold basis -- but in theory *anything* could be written into an artist's contract, to include net earnings. This is the way Hollywood screws over many of its employees -- they artificially manipulate the numbers to ensure that a given movie will technically be a loss, and therefore avoid paying royalties. However, I'm unaware of this practice in the music biz. Besides, if we all mailed Mac a couple of pound notes, would it be tax-free? In the US, gifts up to $10,000 per person *giving the gift* are tax-free. If you can find 100 people to give you that cash, you've just made a tax-free million dollars. So... I do wonder, which would mean more to Mac at this point, buying for chart position (and how much could his fans realistically influence that?) or having more money? :-) - --Amy ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== - --------------------------------- Yahoo! Baaaaaa? :-) LOL, the only sheep I am is a black sheep! :-) > Amiga users beware.. I'm coming to get you :-) I actually *know* the heirs of that company. One of the sons' wives sends me her old clothes, which are of course like new and very nice. Are you going to Sisters of Mercy tonight? Can't remember. Outrageous price.. And besides, what with the missus and a 16 year old stepdaughter, there just ain't enough eye-liner in the house. Actually, I'm getting worried.. the sun is shining at the moment, sunset isn't for another hour or so.. Are the goths gonna make it to the venue on time ????
