Makes you wonder WHY we've dramatically cut NASA funding, for peaceful, scientific, international civilian-aided research, in favour of boosting spending so that Bush can go kick Saddam Hussein's ass for his Daddy's sake. NASA is one of the jewels in our nation's crown, something people worldwide truly admire and value. Our constant bullying is a liability. Two things: get out and make your voice heard -- whatever your beliefs; and love those around you, because an ordinary beautiful Saturday morning can change in a second. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 1 Feb 2003 15:43:32 -0600 (CST) From: amyr@jump.net (Amy Moseley Rupp) Subject: Re: seven-seas OT Current events > >up when they quoted Reagan's eulogy to the Challenger crew just now. > > um....I have no clue what you're taking about! I'm sorry. I was so affected by the news that I forgot to be precise about what happened. The space shuttle Columbia, with seven astronauts including a woman, an African-American, and an Israeli air force officer, exploded this morning at about 8 am CST over north-east Texas. It was flying at 200,000 feet and had reached a maximum speed of 18.2 Mach, and a wing-edge temperature of 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit, when it appears that something came loose, destroyed the left side of the craft, which then caused catastrophic loss of the entire shuttle. There is video from a Dallas television station that was filming the re-entry.... we often can watch re-entries here if the weather is right and the night re-entry is spectacular. Somewhere I have a time-lapse photo I took of re-entry in the summer of 1999 and I'll find it. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 01 Feb 2003 16:54:57 -0500 From: Red Subject: Re: seven-seas OT Current events At 03:27 PM 2/1/03 -0600, you wrote: >I still do not feel war >is conscionable at this time and urge those of you around the world to >ask your leaders to NOT give in to pressure from the President to >acquiesce to his war. There are more of Us than Them. If enough people feel strongly about an issue, things can happen. Remember what happened when some folks in Boston decided they didn't want to pay taxes if they couldn't have a representative in Parliament? I believe the conversation over that little incident continues today :-) - --Amy, proud to descend from people who said 'this isn't right', stood up, and did something about it -- overthrew the British government in America. And again, I wonder -- where are the voices in music that should be *protesting*? Joe Strummer is already sorely missed. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 1 Feb 2003 17:25:54 -0500 From: "Nate Vanden Brook" Subject: Re: seven-seas OT Current events > Makes you wonder WHY we've dramatically cut NASA funding, > for peaceful, scientific, international civilian-aided research, > in favour of boosting spending so that Bush can go kick Saddam > Hussein's ass for his Daddy's sake. > > NASA is one of the jewels in our nation's crown, something people > worldwide truly admire and value. HEAR HEAR!!! I could not agree more! The good fight needs to be fought, every day and in every way! If we do not band together now as a people when the time comes for true unity it will be to late. We live in a country that is based on the idea of questioning authority and yet somewhere along the way this idea has been lost to complacency in he fact that those in Washington know what's best for us or the would not people there. The Dictatorship of the minority truly exists in this country as was warned by Plato and all other great thinkers on Democracy through out time. This needs to STOP and it needs to stop soon! This country needs to come back to the people and the only way for this to happen is for the people to take it back! ......... Sorry.... And yeah where are the political musicians! n8 ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 1 Feb 2003 23:07:51 -0000 From: "looloo" Subject: seven-seas on a lighter note was it anyone here who outbid me for a cd of the radio live in concert cd last week i lost by $1 drat & damnation looloo ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 1 Feb 2003 17:08:13 -0800 (PST) From: Andrew Ironside Subject: Re: seven-seas OT Current events The whole structure stinks and has been going on since the dawn of time. This cowboy/gun culture has to stop.
