It's pretty, and it's got the UC at Boulder to draw from -- but IMNSHO Dallas is an equally good draw, without the scenery ;-) > Is this turning into a kindergarten thing now...??? Actually, that's the name of my gardening side-business.... Kinder Garden -- as in "kinder, gentler..." > Well....if that's what you wanna believe.... > then there must be another reason why they skip Texas!! Um, cos it's hot here??? If there's another reason, I'd love to hear it from someone who's in a band/books bands/ is a roadie etc. A state of over 20 million people is not completely full of backwards idiotic rednecks. There are enough cool people to fill one club at least. :-) - --Amy =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= New Choices! *seven-seas or seven-seas-moderated Questions? mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 06 Sep 2002 11:17:16 -0400 From: Red Subject: Re: seven-seas Oh, and somethinstrange.... ;-) At 10:02 AM 9/6/02 -0500, you wrote: > >Um, cos it's hot here??? And that's close enough to Atlanta and New Orleans to do a decent southern tour....but still....they don't. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= New Choices! *seven-seas or seven-seas-moderated Questions? mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Sep 2002 08:23:49 -0700 From: "Ivan Smith" Subject: Re: seven-seas Oh, and somethinstrange.... ;-) - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Amy Moseley Rupp" > The Bunnymen did -- at least Denver, because that was the > closest show to me. You're right... I'd forgotten about Hotlanta, which would indeed be a huge draw... U of G at Athens (home to REM and U2) is just up the interstate, and then you've got a big part of the South to draw from. And of course Atlanta's a huge airport hub, as well. (For those not in the US: Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Atlanta are the major non-coastal airport hubs.) The smaller American bands on similar shoestring budgets seem to manage some of the South. There are about fifty or more bands playing Austin on a given night, and South by Southwest is one of the biggest independent music festivals in the US -- if not *the* biggest. Perhaps every band comes through here during SXSW.... you can be sure I'll be watching the listings for it more carefully next year (March). Toronto's NXNE is a spinoff/partner of SXSW, and both also have film festivals to go with. - --Amy =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= New Choices! *seven-seas or seven-seas-moderated Questions? mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Sep 2002 08:36:49 -0700 From: "Ivan Smith" Subject: Re: seven-seas Oh, and somethinstrange.... ;-) > > U of G at Athens (home to REM and U2) could that be REM and the B-52's? - --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
