I think it'd be interesting to hear the classic material remastered, and see some new packaging with liner notes and such (true, we got a lot of notes with the box set). Something along the lines of the Scott Walker remasters on Fontana would be nice. We did get a lot of liner notes, but it'd be very interesting to hear more regarding the specifics of the recordings and the thought processes behind them (from all the different parties involved who can remember!) .... what they were trying to convey, and anything in particular they did to enhance that message via music arrangement or recording technique. - --Amy =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= New Choices! *seven-seas or seven-seas-moderated Questions? mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Sep 2002 03:49:22 -0700 (PDT) From: MarkE Moon Subject: seven-seas Teenage kicks One thing I really look forward to reading here is Martyn's little annecdotes at the end of his messages! Wherever they are from they crack me up everyday :-)))) On the subject of TEENAGE KICKS.....there is anew band from Australia called Rocket Science that a friend of mine has turned me onto...their single Being Followed, is nicked off T Kicks in my opinion...check it out at http://www.emimusic.com.au/artist_releases.asp?artistid=320&productid=3604 They are support to Supergrass on the next tour. Other new stuff Im digging at the mo is THE PATTERN - check out mp3s at www.the-pattern.org (kinda 60s garage punk, The Creation/ The Action etc), The D4 are great live, Ben Kweller is a talented little kid, Von Bondies.....I caught lots of bands Id been wanting to see at the Leeds festival. There seems to be a rush of bands at the mo who've all been listening to Funhouse by The Stooges and lots of 60s garage stuff....great stuff to be influenced by. Mark . . Yahoo! Or even better would be to have the LPs re-released so we can replace our worn vinyl with pristine copies of those 4 albums. For all the 24-bit remastering, SACD, DVD-A etc, nothing but nothing matches the sound of how the music should be heard. You can barely hear the maelstrom on the CD version of 'Porcupine'. And record sleeves too instead of piddling little booklets. The photography alone deserves it. And nothing beats the smell of a new record. That might just be me though. - -- Barry. > From: Stephen Still > > Even better would be for the old discs to be remastered as super audio > cds or atl least as DTS discs to stick in a DVD player. > > Stephen > > Amy Moseley Rupp wrote: > > >>I think it'd be interesting to hear the classic material remastered, > >>and see some new packaging with liner notes and such (true, we got a > >>lot of notes with the box set).
