I too cannot compare the closeness to that of a family member. I'm certainly sad, considering I have been missing opportunities to see Strummer and co. since the early '80s. But I think back to that saddest moment, most shocking moment when the world lost Pete de Freitas. And then every time I saw the video of "China Doll". Sad I must be, but making a musician the centre or quasi-centre of the universe still has a tone of exaggeration. Forgive me for not doing any fact check before writing this.. but, Bob Stinson is dead, (drug overdose 1986?), I believe you're referring to Tommy Stinson, Replacements/Bash&Pop/Perfect/now GnR Bassist, who is in fact sober and very much alive. (bob, tommy's brother was the original 'mats guitarist). RIP Joe Strummer (and Elvis too) (and John Lennon, and Pete D. and everyone else on the planet that made a positive difference in people's lives) Have a happy holiday season, however you celebrate. Appreciate those around you while you have the opportunity. _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 with e-mail virus protection service: 3 months FREE*. http://join.msn.com/?page=features/virus&xAPID=42&PS=47575&PI=7324&DI=7474&SU= http://www.hotmail.msn.com/cgi-bin/getmsg&HL=1216hotmailtaglines_eliminateviruses_3mf ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Dec 2002 12:03:18 -0500 From: "Nate Vanden Brook" Subject: Re: seven-seas-digest V1 #93 > Forgive me for not doing any fact check before writing this.. > but, Bob Stinson is dead, (drug overdose 1986?), I believe you're > referring to Tommy Stinson, Replacements/Bash&Pop/Perfect/now GnR > Bassist, who is in fact sober and very much alive. > (bob, tommy's brother was the original 'mats guitarist).
