Choked. ================================ Joe Strummer, frontman of lengendary British punk band The Clash, has died aged 50. Strummer's official website confirmed he died on Sunday. The star was the band's guitarist, singer and songwriter alongside Mick Jones. He had been touring with his most recent band, The Mescaleros, until last month, rounding off a tour in Liverpool. The Clash were known for injecting left wing politics into punk and their album 'London Calling' was named the best album of the Eighties by Rolling Stone magazine - despite being released in 1979. Strummer - born John Graham Mellor - helped make aggressive punk music a worldwide phenomenon with hits like 'Should I Stay Or Should I Go' and the 'London Calling' signature tune. His website, www.strummersite.com, did not indicate the cause of death. http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30000-1074416,00.html ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Dec 2002 12:42:37 -0000 From: "K.P. I really wanted to see them reform for the Rock and Roll hall of fame, they don't make them like him any more. Some real grief here folks, my X-mas is certainly ruined. I really thought that he would at least outlive Shane Mac, how wrong we are. I liked his recent epitaph stuff, thought it was a good musical place to be, now epitaph takes on a new meaning. I really wish now I had a camera when he was signing autographs, I would put it on my wall and never take it down. 2 Ramones, 1 Clash, 1 RUN DMC, I don't mean to sound insensitive, but all members of GnR and Motley Crue are alive, which boggles the mind. I just wish Mac would get healthy and stop smoking, why don't we all send him patches. RIP Joe. A.I. Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. It is sad when someone dies but is every member of the list going to mail in with the statement 'Gutted' (or variation thereof) ? I mean i'm a big Terry Hall fan and if he died today i'd be a bit sad that he never released another sodding album after 'Laugh' but it wouldn't ruin my Xmas or anything else,.I don't know him he's not a close relative so it could only ever have limited impact. > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-seven-seas@smoe.org [mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org]On > Behalf Of Andrew Ironside > Sent: 23 December 2002 14:46 > To: seven-seas@smoe.org > Subject: Re: Re: seven-seas Joe Strummer Dead > > > Please tell me that Joe Strummer is dead is some sick > internet rumour.
