As Mark tries to continue through the extra village measures, their moaning becomes ever louder. As Mark tries to finish off with "it was always a great festival and now it's a well managed and well planned festival" a voice is clearly heard to say "you don't give a stuff and you never have". Mark insists that they "can work together to solve outstanding problems". (Probably not on these lists!) Speaking of The Smiths, has anyone seen/HEARD any of Johnny Marrs new Healer material? I bought tix for their Detroit show last Saturday, JUST because I wanted to see that guitar genius. Also, anyone care to chime in on what 10 Joy Division songs would have be included in an album or hypothetical show, to give the best representation of what that band was all about? BUT I've heard 1 track from Johny and the healers and it was brilliant! Based on that song alone I'd say it's a safe bet. Plus johny even did "meat is murder" solo for a linda mccartney tribute. So you may well get a smiths song or 2? I'd bet that if anyone has more info on marr, it'd be charles pham... He's da man like dat! - -----Original Message----- From: owner-seven-seas@smoe.org [mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Stephen Vilnius Sent: Friday, December 13, 2002 6:55 AM To: seven-seas@smoe.org; villiers-terrace@yahoo.com Subject: seven-seas Joy Division and Smiths vs Bunnymen So, do the majority feel the Bunnymen take 2nd place to the Smiths? The festival last year was mellow, my only complaint is that you have to get there 3 days before the live shows start if you want a chance at a "useable" toilet! - -----Original Message----- From: owner-seven-seas@smoe.org [mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org] On Behalf Of mark Sent: Friday, December 13, 2002 1:08 PM To: seven-seas@smoe.org Subject: seven-seas Glasto Licence At the licence hearing tonight, Glastonbury Festival was refused it's public entertainments licence for a festival in 2003. http://www.festivals.co.uk/news/021212c.shtml As the meeting progresses, it becomes evident that there is a small group - about 15 - of locals present who are fed up with the problems the Festival causes them. The Bunnymen take 2nd place to NOBODY. I mean, the Smiths were good, bloody good, but not as good as the Bunnymen (though Morrissey's duet with Siouxsie, Interlude, is one of the finest ballads I have ever heard.....) >Speaking of The Smiths, has anyone seen/HEARD >any of Johnny Marrs new Healer material? Any 10 would do, really, but I guess you would have to include the singles Love Will Tear Us Apart, Atmosphere, She's Lost Control and Transmission, then some other album tracks (put Failures or Ice Age right next to Atmosphere to show the band's diversity) ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 Dec 2002 13:26:01 -0000 From: matt.harkness@bt.com Subject: RE: seven-seas Glasto Licence >As the meeting progresses, it becomes evident that there is a small group - >about 15 - of locals present who are fed up with the problems the Festival >causes them. Pilton (where the Festival is held, at Worthy Farm) is right in the heart of my work area, and I regularly drive through there during the festival. It really annoys me to see how some of the locals pretty much barricade-up their homes in an effort to deter festival-goers, when in actual fact all it does is wind them up and tempt them in..... ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V1 #81 *******************************
