Love the way it starts out unassuming then bam hits you over the head, crushes your consciousness and you ask yourself if you've heard a better debut album. The best way to listen to Crocodiles is in the woods. Was painting a cottage in 1998, just me alone, and played that at night, with the album cover and stellar music it was amazing experience being in this isolated, wooded area listening to this album. Stars are Stars resonated with such truth looking up to the sky at night, with the crickets chirping. I definetly was born 10 years too late, would have loved to see EATB's camo tour with all the Apocalypse now props and hear their set, have to hook up with Marty MacFly and Dr. Brown and change the time machine to 1980 instead of 1955. 21 Gigawatts indeed! A good camping trip would work with this album as well. I also played the Doors Strange Days not too long afer and was taken aback by the same kind of production values and singing. Imagine Mac doing Horse Latitudes? Faith by Cure was another favourite from this time. I have to paint more isolated cottages. A.I. Yahoo! I'm going camping in the middle of nowhere this weekend (and it's going to be bloody cold by my standards!). But the most beautiful part of Texas.... at any rate, any other "moored in the hills and trees away from the laptop" discs? ;-) ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Nov 2002 08:44:41 -0800 (PST) From: Andrew Ironside Subject: Re: seven-seas Re: Gotta love the Croc - --- Amy Moseley Rupp wrote: > > also played the Doors Strange Days not too long > afer > > and was taken aback by the same kind of production > > values and singing. Every time I think of the movie the Searchers, have been Texas typecast. So lucky to be camping this of year. A.I. Yahoo! Just add turkey and dressing/stuffing and you have all the 'required' Thanksgiving foods covered. Neither recipe is at all time consuming, but they are both delicious and actually make great leftovers -- which you're gonna have, so you might as well enjoy them. - --Amy (Ivan, fell free to use on your site if you wish!) Peppered Cranberry Relish This is more a salsa than a relish and you will either love it or hate it. The cilantro adds a very distinct taste. I usually half this recipe and it is more than enough. Tip: wash your hands with soap and hot water after handling the jalapeno, or the oil will stick on your hands and if you rub your eyes or take out contacts, you'll be sorry. 24 ounces fresh cranberries (2 bags) 1 cup fresh lime juice 2 tablespoons shallots 1 teaspoon salt 1 bunch cilantro (take the leaves off the stems) 1 jalapeno (seeded; raw and not pickled) 1 tablespoon garlic, fresh chopped 2 cups sugar Combine all ingredients in food processor and blend. Taste for seasoning; add more jalapenos or salt to taste. (Remember, relish will get hotter as it sits.) Refrigerate. Makes about 1 quart. Praline Sweet Potatoes The sweet potatoes sure to win over sweet potato haters and lushes of all stripes; do not serve to an alcoholic. 4 large sweet potatoes 2 cups Brandy Rum Butter (recipe follows) 1 cup graham cracker crumbs 1 cup pecan pieces Butter Boil sweet potatoes in their skins (scrub them clean first) until just done. Drain, cool, remove skins, cut lengthwise, then across each half in 1/4 inch slices (this resembles large carrot coins). Arrange in a single layer in a well-buttered pan; top with rum butter, graham crumbs, pecan pieces. Dot with butter. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes until hot and bubbling. Serves 12. Brandy Rum Butter I always half this recipe for the amount called for above. This smells so delicious everyone will wander into the kitchen. I sometimes float a bit of Bacardi 151 atop the brandy and rum to make sure it ignites easily. This is also an easy bit of entertaining cooking. Any leftovers can be stirred into coffee, or used as a sauce for ice cream. 1 cup brandy 1 cup rum 1/2 pound butter 1/2 cup pure vanilla (no, that's not a typo -- half a cup) 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon (note: tablespoon) 1 cup cream 3 cups sugar 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg Using a long match and a deep saucepan, carefully flame and reduce rum and brandy over a medium heat to about 1 cup of liquid. Add the rest of the ingredients and bring to a rolling boil for 3 minutes. Set aside for sweet potatoes. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V1 #24 *******************************
