I have to admit to loving this song. Hell, I bought the album on vinyl the day it came out back in 1987. I taped it and still listen to that tape in the aged Alpine deck that resides in the dashboard of my '91 Jetta. I love the opulence of that song, the swirling guitars, late 80's washes of synth, and Ian McCulloch's trippy tenor. Seal's deliver is all slick and smooth, taking the song into a whole new direction that is at first familiar, yet strangely foreign. It's one of those covers that irks the hell out of you the first time you listen to it, but then you soon become stuck in its sugary aura. The wonderful chorus extrapolations of Mikey Dread help to elevate it beyond being just a sappy reworking. ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 Feb 2004 01:07:25 -0000 From: "Echoing The Bunnymen" Subject: seven-seas-moderated Bunnymen.com voting Hi it would be a massive boost if you all could take a moment & vote on the poll I have posted on the site. Only thing is, it also seems to fade about 5 seconds earlier than the import copies. I know this sounds a bit "anal" but anyone else notice this slight difference? and heh, does anyone else care? :) ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Feb 2004 20:27:15 -0600 (CST) From: amyr@jump.net (Amy Moseley Rupp) Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas Remasters Question > Although I'd already purchased all the import (UK) remasters (from > amazon), I took a chance and purchased a domestic (US) copy of the > grey album from a local shop to see if the BOTDH -remix- was "patched" ... > and it was! > > Only thing is, it also seems to fade about 5 seconds earlier than the > import copies. Yeah, yeah, I can go into AcidPro & fix it, but.... You are *definitely* a loyal fan to purchase *two* copies of the Grey Album!
