But if *Seal's* version actually charts..... >what would that *say* about the world? That people suck and have no sense of self and will only listen to what the record labels tell them to. Sad thing is, the same record company that gave us EATB in the first place is the same that will shoving these cover versions down our throats...but they haven't pushed any of the EATB releases since they moved them over to ADA. I really can not imagine how he will interpret it..... I'm not being precious, I just don't like his style of music...just a personal opinion.......hope it sells well though!!!!!! Until last night I had no idea > who Seal even was.....but yikes!!! Cripes indeed. Why?! is what I wanna know. What's wrong with the original? And as much as I think Coldplay surgically remove the little bit of soul that's present in the original, I would MUCH rather prefer Coldplay's version to ANYTHING Seal is gonna do. After all, you only have to look at the charts to find around 40% cover versions in the top 20 singles.. Saw Seal at Phoenix one year.. not a massive fan, but there's a lot worse out there, and I hope he adds his own style to the track to make it totally different sounding.. Sorry if I offended anyone ( yet again ).. wasn't my intention I'll get me coat, Stu shaz wrote: I think it's good when the Bunnymen get any acknowledgement, so from that point of view it's good... but I have always disliked Seal's music, so it will be interesting to hear this!! I LOVE THE BLOKE ALWAYS LOVED HIS SONGS ABOUT ROSES" I agree I think any media around this release is totally great for the band. Just as a foot note, some of you will know I work for a large record retailer in the uk (H*V) and I have been watching the sales of the reissues with a close eye. In my store they were in the top best selling back cat cds over the Christmas period. We sold a lot, just imagine that in 180 other branches = GOOD NEWS. It would be nice to think that Will and Ian's different visions don't have to necessarily be mutually exclusive. In the old days they used to be dark, moody and melodic at the same time. Nobody says they have to rehash the same old ground, but they could still mix the light and dark sides of things. Besides, nobody is buying Burt Bacharach records these days either, so you might as well remain true to the cosmic Bunny vibe. and I ramble...
