I would like to ask list members (prob uk based ones ) what their thoughts are on the limited UK dates the band played for their 25th Tour. In the past the Bunnymen have been known for playing unusual and remote venues throughout the UK and I was a bit disappointed that they only played 3 venues in the UK + Eire. It would have been a good idea to play odd venues again. I attended Glasgow and Liverpool. For instance PJ harvey played Tate Modern in London and the eden Project in Cornwall.I am aware the Eden Project was a series (?) of gigs. Maybe they could try and play Buxton again or something . what do other people think. ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Dec 2003 17:52:28 -0000 From: "steve griffiths" Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas Limited Uk dates for anniversary tour i think, when it comes down to it, the band isn't into that 'obscure venue' kick now, and haven't been since the mid-late 80's. they stopped being 'a bit arty' a long time ago! p.s. i think everyone knows my opinion of the liverpool gig and it's limited set and mac's crap attitude so i'll say no more! stevie g. ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Dec 2003 13:00:54 -0600 (CST) From: amyr@jump.net (Amy Moseley Rupp) Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas Limited Uk dates for anniversary tour > I would like to ask list members (prob uk based ones ) what their > thoughts are on the limited UK dates the band played for their 25th > Tour. I think he needs to figure out WHGDWHL. ;-) Perhaps hearing the remasters may have made him realise how majestic the Bunnymen *were* -- I know if I'd been at that height and then come down..... it would be hard. Pure speculation on my part, and someone who is closer to the band may know more. What *I* wanna know is -- surely one of you recorded at least one of the shows whether in the US or the UK -- I'd love a listen! ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Dec 2003 13:45:17 -0600 From: "Martha or Kristin Smith" Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas Limited Uk dates for anniversary tour > Perhaps hearing the remasters may have made him realise how majestic > the Bunnymen *were* -- I know if I'd been at that height and then come > down..... it would be hard. Nothing Lasts Forever; Forgiven; Rust; Buried Alive; Burn for Me; Playgrounds and City Parks .... Personally, I don't think there's a 'decline' going on. Personally, I don't think there's a > 'decline' going on. I don't think that there is a 'decline' in the songwriting..... what I meant was that you can't recapture what must have been heady days for those lads, because that's what they were at the time. And I don't think they have gotten as big as Mac would have liked, or feels they deserved. The only decline I know is in Mac's vocals (sorry, throw the tomatoes if you disagree); and the fact that there really isn't any replacing Pete or Les. "A little voice inside my head Said "don't look back, you can never look back" I thought I knew what love was Or did I know? Those days are gone forever I should just let them go, but....." Substitute "fame" or "success" or ..... How can one say that I think that the Bunnymen's glory days are behind them, without seeming as if I'm saying they are all washed up? There is an in between, or merely saying that they aren't going to see *that* kind of glory -- it belongs to the youth and has since rock and roll began. ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Dec 2003 23:21:50 -0000 From: "Noose Boy" Subject: seven-seas-moderated RE: seven-seas Limited Uk dates for anniversary tour Both Slideling and WAYGTDWYL are much better LPs than Flowers though. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-seven-seas@smoe.org [mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Red Sent: 29 December 2003 20:03 To: seven-seas@smoe.org Subject: Re: seven-seas Limited Uk dates for anniversary tour At 01:45 PM 12/29/03 -0600, you wrote: > Nothing Lasts Forever; Forgiven; Rust; Buried Alive; Burn for Me; >Playgrounds and City Parks ....
