Had a great little pre-gig meeting with Red, her daughter, Jon Hickmott and a few others. It was fantastic to hang with some mischievously fun Bunnyfans and I'm sorry that I lost track of them in my zeal to see the opening band, but I didn't realize how packed, Webster Hall was going to be for this gig. Pre gig highlight occurred when I stepped outside for a clove and saw Will Sergeant walking up the street (seems to happen every time I see them in recent years). When I shouted out to him he was kind enough to approach me and partake in a brief chat. In addition to being a phenomenal guitarist, he is a genuinely gracious human being. Well, as I expected, everbody brings their A game to the big city, because the Bunnymen were dead on last night. I honestly haven't heard Mac sound this good in years and Will was stunning as always. I got my wish as they kicked things off with "Show of Strength", but the highlight of the night for me was actually "Heads Will Roll" which climaxed into its explosion of aurally orgasmic eastern guitar flourishes. I would love to hear them follow that one with "Gods will be Gods" sometime ;) . Despite my general longing for more dusty lost classics, the Bunnymen showed that they are still capable of delivering very magical moments and I wish them many happy returns. I catch you folks the next time around ;) . Cheers, David PS - The Stills are a very worthy opener, so make an effort to catch their set if you can. ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Oct 2003 20:10:12 -0500 From: Red Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas Setlist again... Mac watched nearly their entire set from the center of the floor! (it pretty much emptied out after EATB left the stage.) Silly fans...it was a Friday night and the bar never kicked anyone out till 2 am when they closed! The band mingled and chatted with everyone. Was a great night! Excellent show too! Besides the songs on the Boston setlist, they also played Heads Will Roll and I'll Fly Tonight that I can think of off the top of my head. I thought the show was one of the best I've seen in the US in a long time. I also thought it was better than the NYC show, maybe coz of the more intimate venue, and Mac was a bit more interactive with the crowd in NJ. Nice meeting up with Scott, Susan, George, and Jon Hickmott!!! Nice meeting those of you who I didn't know before...and those who said hello whose names I can't recall....and apologies to those I didn't get to meet! :-( And what's the deal with the bar where we were supposed to meet being closed? The website is still there!!!!!!!!!!! Weird! We ended up in some shit hole next door... but a good time was had by all! ;-) Red ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-moderated-digest V2 #266 ******************************************
