I just spent a weekend in NY/NJ for a couple of shows and he was absolutely stellar. I wasn't sure what to expect from a solo acoustic set, but he was at the top of his game. The beauty and power of the songs shined through loud and clear. His voice sounds better than ever and he handles the 12 string quite nicely. He was joined by a talented friend from the Bellows, James Oakes, for about half of his set and it was very enjoyable. He did a couple of really nice new songs also, including one called "America" which had some pretty impressive laptop backing tracks assisting him. Cheers, all... I take it copies of the bootleg > won't be needed then ?? Oh yeah, I want a copy of that bootleg! :-) *** I also want to see the picture of the seven-seas Three Musketeers -- Zap, Stu, and Matt! :-D *** I understand what you're saying about the festival -- it's great when that many people can get along. Some communities here in the US will pull that off with Fourth of July parades and fireworks, but most music festivals of that size are NUTS. ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Jul 2003 20:48:48 +0100 (BST) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Stu=20Bird?= Subject: seven-seas-moderated RE: seven-seas Glastonbury Thought you'd like that Chris !! Okay, the real answer to your question........ Well, FWIW, I thought that the Bunny's set was outstanding. Okay, standard set, but that had to be expected under the circumstances. Mac wearing a jacket rather than a coat, and also jeans... very casual, but he looked good nonetheless. At first, I thought he was going to explode at the sound and lighting guys, but it quickly turned into brilliant humour ( it's only my own reasoning, but I think he suddenly thought "wtf, it's a fun time afterall" ). I think Mac needs to be applauded for that. At one point, he even offered a roadie the chance to take the mic when he came onto the stage. Mac's voice was in superb form, Will was his usual brilliant self ( is that a new Jag he's using ?), and the rest of the guys were sound as well. Great to hear Rust again, and there seemed to be added punch to a lot of the tracks. Perhaps the most satisfying part was hearing the reactions of friends who had either never heard of the band before, or who haven't heard them for years and years. Every one without fail was very impressed, and the friend who didn't know of them at all sent me at least 3 text messages during the set to say how great she thought they were. Things like that make my obsession worth while !!! It also highlights the value of events like these, and if the next festival shows are as good, then I'm sure that the band will have a lot of new fans on board. Cheers, Stu Chris Adams wrote: Heh! Nice seeing Matt and Zap and seeing Trina and Stu again. Had to dash as I was full of beer. Great gig and great Glasto all round. Those scousers down the front were very typical scousers, I got a swig of voddy in exchange for one of my ciggies and the fella's eternal friendship Thought Inspirals were good too Didn't bother with Radiohead but watched a cracking set by The Damned Raj - -----Original Message----- From: owner-seven-seas@smoe.org [mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org] On Behalf Of matt.harkness@bt.com Sent: 27 June 2003 15:32 To: seven-seas@smoe.org Subject: seven-seas Glastonbury Well, what can I say..... The lads were on superb form, Mac was in an extremely happy mood, joking along with the crowd and getting jiggy with it, Will was his usual awesome, faultless self, and the rest of the band more than ably supported them. I managed to get right down the front of a pretty damned large turn-out for so early in the day, along with Stu & Trina, Raj, and Zap (who was a big girl's blouse and couldn't finish his pint of Somerset Scrumpy!). Set list was standard fare, starting off with Lips, Rescue and Villiers Terrace, ending up with Do It Clean, and in between, though not necessarily in this order, were Crocodiles, Rust, Dancing Horses, Nothing Lasts Forever, Back Of Love, The Cutter, Flowers and possibly one or two others but I can't remember right now - I've just nipped back up the road to the telephone exchange to send this report then I'm off back to the site! Oh, and if the dickhead who insisted on shouting out that his sister teaches Mac's daughter (several times, and right over my right shoulder) is subscribed to this list, listen mate, next time shut the fuck up, we don't care! Matt, sending quite possibly the quickest ever report from a Glasto appearance! ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-moderated-digest V2 #213 ******************************************
