The lads were on superb form, Mac was in an extremely happy mood, joking along with the crowd and getting jiggy with it, Will was his usual awesome, faultless self, and the rest of the band more than ably supported them. I managed to get right down the front of a pretty damned large turn-out for so early in the day, along with Stu & Trina, Raj, and Zap (who was a big girl's blouse and couldn't finish his pint of Somerset Scrumpy!). Set list was standard fare, starting off with Lips, Rescue and Villiers Terrace, ending up with Do It Clean, and in between, though not necessarily in this order, were Crocodiles, Rust, Dancing Horses, Nothing Lasts Forever, Back Of Love, The Cutter, Flowers and possibly one or two others but I can't remember right now - I've just nipped back up the road to the telephone exchange to send this report then I'm off back to the site! Oh, and if the dickhead who insisted on shouting out that his sister teaches Mac's daughter (several times, and right over my right shoulder) is subscribed to this list, listen mate, next time shut the fuck up, we don't care! Matt, sending quite possibly the quickest ever report from a Glasto appearance! ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Jun 2003 06:07:58 +0100 From: "Shaz" Subject: seven-seas-moderated Brighton gig the gig was good but they had to go off stage for awhile because Will's effects peddle thingy was not working :-O Usual set but Mac played Pinky on Angels and Devils!!! :-))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) People shouted out a few things like Gods Will Be Gods etc and Mac mummbled something about doing that stuff for the anniversary tour so you never know.. shaz ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Jun 2003 11:07:56 -0500 From: "Martha Smith" Subject: seven-seas-moderated GLASTONBURY http://www.nme.com/news/105432.htm It does mention the music, down near the bottom. CRIME, RAIN FALLING FAST AT GLASTO 2003 GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL has seen a 50% drop in robberies in 2003 compared with last year, thanks to increased security presence on-site. On day one of the festival, organisers this morning (June 27) report that robberies are significantly down, and their bid to clamp down on trouble outside the site with a greater number of police, stewards and security officers has also proved successful, with no crime reported in the surrounding village of Pilton. Last night, crack squads of security worked in conjunction with police at the main gate to the festival site to stop thieves posing as stewards from stealing peoples tickets. People wearing jackets similar to security officers were stopping people entering the site, asking to see their tickets then running off with them. Several people were arrested and taken off site. In total, so far there have been 60 arrests 20 more than last year and 57 crimes have been reported, only two more than last year. The hospital tent has been kept busy, with 524 people treated. There were 149 minor injuries, and 17 people treated for the effects of drugs and alcohol. Although the weather remained fair overnight, rain set in this morning, and conditions have begun to get a little muddy underfoot, but festivalgoers remain in good spirits. Highlights early in the day included The Darkness, who opened the Main Stage, with frontman Justin managing to squeeze in a costume change from leather trousers to a white, fringed sequin suit during their set, which saw a huge turn-out from the crowd. Har Mar Superstar was accompanied by five scantily-clad gyrating dancers from Manumission, the Ibiza club where he will be DJing during the summer. Echo And The Bunnymen played a set of classics including The Back Of Love, The Cutter and Killing Moon, with frontman Ian McCulloch paying tribute to festival organiser Michael Eavis, saying: "Michael Eavis - what a dude! I think he should have a muzzie (Scouse for moustache) with that beard though." Here it is.... review of bunnies at glasto on the freeserve web site >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Echo And The Bunnymen Word! We have landed, we being the Alphabetian section of the reviews squad, and we are pissed OFF! What is it with all this wet shit? Still, it could be worse. We could be poor old Macca, who seems to have been booted out of Echo And The Bunnymen and replaced by Jo Brand. And Jo Brand, as ever, will not shut the fuck up. She just spent five minutes rambling about Timmy Mallett in a bad scouse accent. Yo! Sing, bitch! And sing she does. And here we realise it is Macca after all! He just got fat! Phew. And the pies have not affected his voice - it is pure and huge and awesome, and doing a fine job of 'The Cutter' - which is soon joined by 'The Killing Moon' ("The best song ever written"), that one about the back of love, which gets football chants from the drizzled on crowd... and amid more banter - some funny, some lame, all admirabley hardcore - we get a really fucking awful funk work out, vague covers of 'Walk On The Wild Side' and 'Get Up (Sex Machine)', and an offer to come and stay with Macca in Liverpool. "I'll make you tea," he quips, drily. Last time we saw Maccaa at a festival he was all in white and got pelted with mud and human faeces. So this is Victory for the Pie-Mac, then. And props to the band - despite looking like Ocean Colour Scene, they wreak luscious havoc, in a drizzly sort of way. And Mac had the foresight to leave the white outfit at home this time. Boss! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. thought y'all would be interested. stevie g. p.s. seems like my 'jo brand' joke from a couple of years ago has materialised in this review!! ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-moderated-digest V2 #208 ******************************************
