This week I have been working my ass off installing a whole heap of data circuits on the site, for various purposes, one of which is the link-ups for mobile phone cell sites. Both Orange and O2 are providing three extra masts to cover the influx of 100,000+ people, a big percentage of whom will be bringing their mobile phones with them. If you're a Vodafone or T Mobile customer, or with one of the service providers who roam their networks, such as Virgin Mobile, forget it! With no extra coverage, your networks are gonna be swamped and the chances of making/receiving a call severely limited. So, if you're coming to the festival, and you can't stand to be parted from your phone (I swear some people's are actually glued to their ears, even at gigs.....grrrrr.....a pet hate of mine), get yerself an Orange or O2 one. Matt btw... I didn't put OT in the subject line because I figured that, although my post is about mobile phones, it's also about the Glasto festival, which is kinda on-topic as the Bunns are playing there. ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Jun 2003 23:32:06 +0100 From: "mark" Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas Glasto advice well i havent posted anything on this list for about a year now maybe, but seeing as i am finally sorted for Glasto, whats everyone doing for the bunnies on the Friday?? great opportunuty to force my mates to finally see the them in action at last! ...shame i'm on vodafone :( oh erm hi btw if anyone remembers me :) Mark - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Amy Rupp" To: Sent: Wednesday, June 18, 2003 6:45 PM Subject: RE: seven-seas Glasto advice > > I may well have a GPRS XDA for the festival, which could be a bad > > thing since I won't really be in a fit state to send coherent msgs. > > We shall see.... > > Incoherent messages are always fun! > > > Not sure what you're getting at about the Tor???? > > Just that mobile reception in that one spot is AWFUL; > it will nearly always force a call to be dropped. At the moment I'm trying to work out whether or not I can get away with holding off on supplying a few of the on-site circuits until the Friday afternoon, so that I can get on the site with a contractor's pass, then slope off in the direction of the main stage at the relevant time. You might think that's a bit tight, as you lot have all had to pay 100+ quid for tix, but the fact is I'm not allowed the time off from work *because* of the festival so what's the point in paying for a ticket? I may as well use work to my advantage if I can. >...shame i'm on vodafone :( I'm sure it won't be THAT bad....just not as good as the others! >oh erm hi btw if anyone remembers me :) Of course!
