I just think I've seen Mac perform too many times in the last 20 years.... it's all blurring together! I do remember being really surprised at that gig by something they played.....maybe that was it! :-) But HOW could I forget about THAT song???? :-( Red (sorry, STILL catching up on old posts!) ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 01 Jun 2003 09:40:29 -0400 From: "Henry Biedenkapp" Subject: seven-seas-moderated The Smiths Again >From: "Matt H" >It's getting worse, too! Hey, Matt, I don't see how this is possible. I've seen the Smiths live once and Morrissey twice. The Smiths were the worst live sounding bands in 25 years of concert going, but I must admit the audience was having one of the best times. Everybody was litterally dancing (not just standing) on their chairs or dancing in the aisles. A great time was had at the old Pier 44. It was a great illustration for me about the debate of really playing live or using taped music and vocals. I applaud Morrissey for playing 100% live and probably prefer it real that if they playing 100% taped. Morrissey solo sounded a little bit better live but not much. I really love the band and giving Morrissey a lot of credit where he deserves it I own several live Smiths and Morrissey reccordings at best one or two are very good but most are lousy "Rank" should be deleted and burned by the way. The "Singles Collection" and "Greatest Hits" collection probably should also be burned because for some reason with all these great songs, it deosn't seem to "flow" as a Smiths album should. You can tell that this was pure record company cash-in wwith no involvement from anyone in the band. There would nave been some thought in sequencing. The rest of the Smiths albums are all brilliant, with the exception of the slightly dissappointing "Strangeways" a lot of great songs, but for some reason isn't as powerful as the previous material on the whole. Maybe, I'm the masochist for loving the band as much as I do with as much deep disappointment as the live material presents. I just tell it like the way I feel and see it. So it's just my opinion. I noticed no one made any comments about my Morrissey is "not nice" remarks after explaining why. Maybe part of my bitterness is the fact that with all the "liberal" philosophy that is espoused in Morrissey lyrics, that to find out how "money hungry" and image conscious he is. Anybody have a really excellent sounding factory-pressed Smiths boot? Matt, where are these excellent recordings from? Maybe, I should be signing up on a Smiths or Morrissey list?
