I hate that. I bought the re-mastered "The Who Live at Leeds". I know, 'The Who', sorry(mostly cause of John Entwhistle). Anyway the original album only had about 7 songs on it, when I bought this "remastered" version with twice as many songs, I listened to them, and suddenly realized why they only released some of the songs from concert. Now I routinely skip over those extra tracks. It really takes away from the overall experience of listening to an album you loved as a child, if suddenly half of it sucks. > From: Red > Reply-To: seven-seas@smoe.org > Date: Fri, 02 May 2003 11:46:30 -0400 > To: seven-seas@smoe.org > Subject: Re: seven-seas interview > > At 07:09 AM 5/2/03 -0600, you wrote: > >> In Conversation With: Ian McCulloch > >> But no extra tracks. I had a problem with Rush's classic _Exit...Stage Left_; when it came out on CD, they'd left off "Beneath, Between and Behind" which is a potshot at the United States (and I'm sure you can all do some imaginary laughing given the song title). Anyhoo, it really sucks because there's no interruption between the previous track, "Closer To The Heart" and BBB. There's a buildup between the ending of CTTH and BBB, and it's chopped off on most CD versions. The early CDs just didn't have the extra couple of minutes needed to put BBB on. So we'd burn CDs with the analog leadin and analog BBB tacked on the end of the digital CTTH. However, the *remaster* corrects this, and is in fact a truer replica of the original vinyl and cassette than was the first CD. Warning to Rob: if you like Rush, you'll take some *serious* stick here! ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 3 May 2003 01:00:00 +0100 From: "Echoing The Bunnymen" Subject: seven-seas-moderated Echoing The Bunnymen Photo Page Hi all, about bloody time I hear you all saying..... It all flowed well and even gave a better glimpse of what they were doing musically at the time. also, I know several people who WON'T buy a remastered cd EVER without any extra tracks... their thought on the subject is "why bother?" and if ya think about it... as fans... aren't we getting kinda 'screwed' buying something we sort of already have? btw before you shout... YES I will buy all the new bunny stuff released... and have through the years... just gets really expensive sometimes... and I feel so much better about it all when there are extras. fwiw I still have to order the "new" avalache just for the two EF tracks officially put to cd. last cd I purchased was The Creatures "sad cunt" cd single because three years ago it was sold as a ltd edition 7in only release... and the fans bitched that they wanted it put to cd. so now I have both. I'm glad though as I prefer cds now. more convienient and, at the mo, both my turntables have bust. :( oh and Amy, I too was a PIB. always wear the eyeliner but the lipstick pissed me off because it always came off on my drinks and cigarettes! -hee, sounds like a sissies siong, dunnit? ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-moderated-digest V2 #133 ******************************************
