Despite me being totally off me head ( no change there then ), I also thought that Radiohead's 97 Glasto show was one of the best.. No Surprizes made me feel like I was the only person in that field. Made up for the truely dire Pumpkins show the night before.. possibly one of the worst sets I've ever witnessed ( yep.. even beats the Roses in that department, although Ian Brown tried real hard again last year ). Funnily enough, wearing me Glasto 97 t-shirt tonight... Glasto is gonna be immense.. Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Mogwai, John Cale, Jimmy Cliff, to name only a small fraction.. We'll have to meet up this time.. Nathan and his wife ( The Who show ), and Zap, as well as a load of other mates all going... Cheers, Stu Noose Boy wrote:I shall be at their Glasto show too, that last gig there was one of the best gigs I've ever seen, possibly the best, certainly the most emotionally moving. Hope you're not including me in on that one! I may have said that I could see where so-n-so thinks that...and that I do like it about equal... some of the songs even more....like Fake Plastic Trees for example...but there are also a LOT of songs on Ocean Rain that are far better than the intro track on The Bends!! And I did say that Ocean Rain wasn't my fave Bunny cd.........but if I had to choose between the two, it'd definitely be Ocean Rain. (fwd) NEMO is a semi-scam. They try to do it like CMJ or SXSW but fall short. What they do is charge a non-refundable fee per band [I think it is $35] and then try to book a bunch of bands in the five or six clubs around town during a weekend. Since there are only a few clubs, only so many bands get booked. But, HUNDREDS of bands here in Boston ALONE send in the fee for a hope at playing one of the bigger clubs that they can't get booked into for whatever reason. What often happens is that you are booked at a place you could get booked at any other night, or you aren't booked for the event at all - which happens a lot. No industry people come to it, only local press, who cover it because they think it is a special event, even though it isn't. We tried doing it the first two years and didn't get in despite having records out, with airplay, followings, etc. Then, I went to one of the events and saw that it was pretty lame. Usually it is done in May or June, no Sept. They must not have had their shit together this year. Right up there. Always an awesome live experience.. I was lucky enough to win a John Peel comp a couple of years ago to go see them perform a live session at the Maida Vale studios with about 30 other people and loads of free beer !! They're not playing Bristol this time ( the last time was a bit spoiled by people chatting through it, and unfortunately Sharon's husband was ill and missed the set ), so it's off to Cardiff for us...
