Barry answered your Nick Cave question; my brother likes "Pots of Gold" as it was one of the first things he wanted me to transfer from vinyl to CD for him. "Start Again" is one that has a lot of personal meaning for me: "Woke up sad When am I ever gonna learn It's in my head But I can't say the words I had it in my hands Lost my nerve I gave it and I got it In return" Divorce is sure one way to start again, though this feels more like the Billy Idol nasty "White Wedding" "start again!" - --Amy ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 Feb 2003 18:57:06 -0800 (PST) From: Andrew Ironside Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas-digest V2 #38 It is cold around here lately, but it has to for me to play hockey outdoors so a mixed blessing. One of the better memories I have of our time together. Ouch. I'd hope you had a better time in the car than just listening to Candleland! That was one I bought on CD even though I had no player, and taped it off on my brother's stereo. Other side? PiL's 9. Took that tape and that tape alone to Toronto New Year's Eve 1989/1990. Just graduated college -- another start again point, though not lousy like this one! Mac's father and Pete were already dead -- it's not quite clear from the above -- but Mac has said many a time that Candleland was written with his dad in mind, and the "Nothing dies, nothing ever dies" part of "Start Again" makes me think of that. Nice touch with the metronomical relentless clicking backing track, too -- time waits for no man, even Mac. - --Amy, who owes a bunch of people email, and has stuff out the wazoo to do, and what am I doing? :-) ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 Feb 2003 21:16:34 -0600 (CST) From: amyr@jump.net (Amy Moseley Rupp) Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas-digest V2 #38 > It is cold around here lately, but it has to for me to > play hockey outdoors so a mixed blessing. You girls > are lucky you don't have to shave your face each > morning. Has Mac ever had a beard? Don't think so -- he'd look dead weird! Wouldn't fit the boy-girl-space-creature image! But in terms of body area shaved -- yeah right we're lucky. In winter one can hide those areas longer ("winter forest") but not forever. I wish I could just throw conventionality to the wind and refuse to shave, but gosh darn it I got socialised too well ;-) - --Amy ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 Feb 2003 19:28:59 -0800 (PST) From: Andrew Ironside Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas Mac's best solo song and under the milky way No, the relationship wasn't that bad, but like I told you earlier she didn't like Crocodiles, I was excited to finally play her one of the best debut albums of all time on her parents stereo, i will never forget her reaction, "Andrew, I don't like this." Ouch. It seems shallow but I can't bond with someone as much when they don't like the Croc. She wasn't thrilled about killing moon either, I still keep in touch with her, so maybe I will slip ocean Rain on a mix tape to see what happens. You have any stuff by 80's Scottish band Strawberry Switchblade? Hard to find their CD, inetersting to note that it was produced by Bill Drummond and dave Balfe, and that future Cure member Boris williams played drums, those girls had quite the distinctive look as well. People get them mixed up with Switchblade Symphony, who I have seen, but way more gothic. - --- Amy Moseley Rupp wrote: > > Mac was going throgh hell went he wrote that > wasn't > > he?
