I haven't heard it yet, but another friend of mine, of sound judgement, has said that the new Nick Cave is possibly the best he's ever done. That said, Barry's word should be enough. I'm gonna buy it today. - --Chris A. Initially I put the 'Nocturama' 3rd, behind with 'No More Shall We Part' 2nd and Boatman's Call 1st. Now I'd say it's 2nd, excellent LP. Just heard they did an 'invitation only' show in Shepherds Bush last night!! - -----Original Message----- From: owner-seven-seas@smoe.org [mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Chris Adams Sent: 17 January 2003 15:09 To: seven-seas@smoe.org Subject: Re: seven-seas what's up over there musically??!?? So Lou Reed's put an album out based on Edgar Allen Poe writings? Hmmmm...sounds a little faux highbrow to me. It's like Lou telling the world "Yes, I have a regular subscription to the 'Bravo!' Channel on cable TV." But I haven't heard the album yet, so... - --Chris A. ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Jan 2003 11:04:08 -0700 From: "K. Poe isn't 'highbrow' -- he's great good fun! Try reading "The Raven" aloud. :) Back in the late 70s (I think it was), the Alan Parsons Project came out with quite a good album based on Poe: Tales of Mystery and Imagination. One of my best garage sale finds. -Kristin :) ====================================== The Official Seven-Seas Web Page. www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Jan 2003 15:22:00 -0500 From: "Chris Adams" Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas what's up over there musically??!?? Poe's fine, I've read a lot of his stuff and have enjoyed it. Making a rock and roll record about a book/series of writings, though, is very much suspect, and it's not where Lou's at his best--I don't like it when he gets too "arty." "Timerocker" was excruciating, and "Magic and Loss" was very little of the former, and far too much of the latter. - --Chris A. "K. F.
