I was a bit worried about the comments I saw on the list, but I'm not disappointed at all... I happen to be the daughter of a librarian and a banker which means if there's anything involving books or money I have always had to do it. Anyway, I came in before the storm of six-year-olds hit and the librarian had on some music, which surprised me, and FURTHER it sounded roughly UKish. So I asked what it was and was told The Corrs (yes, I have just crawled out from under a large stone and have quite a beard ;-) ) though this particular album seemed to be mostly covers. Librarian told me Bono sings on one song and she loves Bono. I listen to the CD for a while, and mention that I could turn her on to some other similar stuff and she says sure. I ask her if she knows Echo and the Bunnymen and without blinking she says she's HEARD OF TH"EM! Then she frowns and says 'isn't there someone famous in that group?' I laugh as I recite the names and say Ian thinks he's famous, and he did the footie song in what, 1998? with the Spice Girls but she doesn't know that one. I can't believe an educator is even this much into music. I plan a full-scale conversion attempt! - --Amy, laughing cos the library is about 1/3 full of Brit Books anyway between all the Dorling Kindersley (drool) and Harry Potter kit though if you want to learn about England you get your choice of two books: London is one, and the rest of the country is another ;-) ====================================== Choices! mailto:majordomo@smoe.org Subscribe/unsubscribe Seven-seas Seven-seas-moderated Both available in digest form. ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Oct 2002 11:50:53 -0700 From: "Ivan" Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas Mac/Jealous Guy he wanted to do "Love", which was covered by Robert Wyatt(?) on the CD... incidentally, you can purchase back issues of Uncut at http://www.mags-uk.com/ipc - -Ivan - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Amy Moseley Rupp" To: Sent: Tuesday, October 15, 2002 11:07 AM Subject: Re: seven-seas Mac/Jealous Guy > On Monday, October 14, 2002, at 06:19 PM, Ivan Smith wrote: > > > The editor of the magazine requested Mac do this particular tune.
