Anyway we could hazard a guess at what the top three will be, i.e. all the ex-nme lot will say nevermind, the wrinklies will say, 'why, sergeant pepper of course', and the rest will choose kylies latest, or even worse, sophie ellis (my mum used to be on blue peter, but hey, I'm not here to talk about that) bextor. The alternative would be to attempt a hijack as the Otway fans did for the best songs of the century or whatever and got beware of the flowers cos I'm sure they are gonna get you yeah, into the top ten alongside beatles and oasis. Pete ps theres some interesting stats on the Otway site as to what sales are required to get a hit single these days. I'll dig em out later -perhaps persuading the chaps do do an original single would be as fruitful. as if. pps I'm not sure really want any john lennon covers really. Bit of a cliche, I know, but most of his post beatles output is a bit lacking if you ask me (as is maccas). ppps Thats it >From: "Barry Whiting" > >...Q magazine is taking votes for the best album's of all time : > > _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com ====================================== Choices! mailto:majordomo@smoe.org Subscribe/unsubscribe Seven-seas Seven-seas-moderated Both available in digest form. ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Oct 2002 05:12:05 -0500 (CDT) From: amyr@jump.net (Amy Moseley Rupp) Subject: seven-seas-moderated Re: seven-seas Re: Q > Anyway we could hazard a guess at what the top three will be, i.e. all > the > ex-nme lot will say nevermind, the wrinklies will say, 'why, sergeant pepper > of course', and the rest will choose kylies latest, or even worse, sophie > ellis (my mum used to be on blue peter, but hey, I'm not here to talk about > that) bextor. Hey, watch it! There are plenty of people who rather fancy Kylie ;-) I'd planned to ask the list which magazine(s) they liked best and why, for example, Uncut, Q, NME.... cos I'm thinking of subscribing to one of them. I'm not ex-NME, though I've read a few of them long before you could get one here at any newsstand; and I don't *think* I'm a wrinkly (was born the summer Sgt. Pepper was release); and I have no clue what the bit after the saphie part even means. I guess I'm interested in the up-and-coming bands, though not necessarily the ones groomed for stardom, but *all* of them. We just don't get the music press on *anything*, much less 'Brit-pop' bands, over here. For Bay Area types, they've had a gig scheduled at the Fillmore on Monday night for a while now, but what you may have missed is that they've added a tiny warm-up at Slim's on Sunday! Last I checked www.virtuous.com had tix still - and THEY'RE $2 service charge goes to charity, unlike the others who charge $7 or something and pocket it all....
