I would disagree with Chris on this. The last Fixion show was pretty good - but to be honest, it was more of a Bunnymen show - since they started playing Bunnymen songs again. The sound was spotting to start and Mac walked off. It was pretty funny. My then-girlfriend and I were handing him shots of Bailey's from the floor. They also played a blistering "Pale Blue Eyes" and "Loose." I think it was a fun show. Although, since I didn't see the NYC show, if it was brilliant, I could see why Chris was let down with the Axis show. From: Joe DiMaria Subject: Trash Can Sinatras update Date: Fri, 27 Sep 2002 07:47:56 -0400 Hello everyone, here is the latest Trash Can Sinatras update. It has been quite a while since I last sent out an update (so long that a bunch of you were wondering if there was still a list!), but for those of you who haven't been checking in, http://www.trashcansinatras.com will always have the latest news, and there are also some updates posted to the message board. In case you didn't know, the band went into the studio (Riverside Studios in Glasgow) in March to begin recording their fourth album. The prior fourth album, recorded in the USA in the spring of 2000, was determined not to be up to par and was not released. The latest recordings do include a few songs from 2000 that have been reworked, as well as more new songs. If you're interested in more details from the last 6 months, the band members contributed periodic updates during the recording sessions, and they can be found at http://trashcansinatras.com/gigs/sessions.html Anyhow, here is the latest update, from Frank Reader on 9/25/02: - ------ to all readers, hello again. it's been another gloriously sunny wednesday in glasgow, and i'm sitting now in the house with a touch of autumnal sunstroke, listening to mix after mix from the now-complete recording sessions at riverside studios. the neighbours across the street are again watching my every move, and while it's a poor substitute for the adoration of millions, it feels right to be looked at. the first thing that strikes me listening to the songs (after "how do we pay this studio bill?") is that there are thirteen of them, and that maybe we should try and work out how many of them should be on the cd. "thirteen! or ten! or eight, or two! just release something" i hear you say. "let us hear them first and we'll tell you which ones are crap!" i hear you say. "write some more songs and delay the album another year!" i hear you say. there is no doubt but that we wish we could accommodate you all and relieve all your impatiences. as it is, we have almost gotten to the point where such things as songs, mixes and even running order are decided, but some songs require further mixing. boo to you too. meanwhile, friends in the finer arts are working on sleeve ideas. again, i'd like to say thanks to everyone who has contributed words of encouragement (and frustration) for all your support and continued anticipation. we are working with the means at our disposal to bring you this (we think) very pretty record as soon as possible. to while away your time meanwhile, why not write in your questions to band member paul. he has agreed to be the first trash can to be grilled about anything and everything you choose. admin will collect all the questions submitted by october 11th and pop 'em to paul. or you could write to your elected representative declaring your abhorrence of any war against the bogey men of iraq. whatever you think most important. lots of love, francis r. - ---------- So there you have it. The band members have agreed to take all questions sent their way (I know that not all e-mails sent to the website have received answers, so here is a chance to atone). Every couple of weeks another band member will start taking questions. But for now, you can send your questions for Paul Livingston to paul@trashcansinatras.com or info@trashcansinatras.com by October 11th and his replies will be e-mailed back and/or posted to his page on the website. Many of you contributed ideas for the t-shirt competition, which ended a couple of months ago. Don't worry, there will be a winner announced, the band members have not all had a chance to review all entries at this point. On the merchandising front, the old reliable items are still available: On a B Road double CD, Chewing a Brick double CD, Videos Lost and Found compilation and Acoustic Sessions 7" vinyl. Send me an e-mail (jdimaria@gis.net) or to info@trashcansinatras.com or check http://www.trashcansinatras.com/shop.shtml for ordering information. Just think, each item pays for 5 minutes of recording time in the studio! There will eventually be new t-shirts, if you're interested you can let me know or just check the website. I'll probably send out another e-mail when there are new t-shirts. Frank Reader sings on a couple of songs on the new Noonday Underground CD, which is being released next week. For more information you can check http://www.noonday-underground.com or http://www.setantarecords.com You're getting this message because you have contacted me or trashcansinatras.com in the past. If you believe you're on this list in error, would like to be removed from this list (it is read only, no one can post except me) or change addresses, please let me know and I'll take care of it. Also, due to the number of people on this list and constantly changing e-mail addresses, I get a lot of errors when I send messages out. If your e-mail is not working, I will remove you from the list after 2 bounced messages. Don't forget to contact me if your e-mail is changing and you would still like to receive the updates. You can also check http://www.trashcansinatras.com and http://www.gis.net/~jdimaria/tcs/tcshome.html as I usually post the updates there as well.
