Having had the misfortune of seeing muse live twice, it was a friend thing, they were truly awful and they still were not sure who the wanna be either a 5th rate Radiohead or some cod metal band jimbo who ain't hiding from nobody BTW Got the Polyphonic Spree cd today damn fine stuff nice and chilled....................... ====================================== Choices! mailto:majordomo@smoe.org Subscribe/unsubscribe Seven-seas Seven-seas-moderated Both available in digest form. ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Sep 2002 12:58:05 +0100 From: "Noose Boy" Subject: seven-seas-moderated RE: seven-seas it's not just Echo.... I actually don't mind Muse too much, but they never really delivered their potential, or it just passed me by. Have seen both them and Radiohead live, Muse were OK, Radiohead left me totally emotionally drained. Whatever 'lights your candle' I guess. Very disappointed with the new Coldplay LP though it did take a while for me to like the first one. They just don't seem to be the CDs I pick out and play when browsing. What do you think of JJ72? Muse has more talent in one fingernail than Radiohead... why any group that has a lead singer who uses falsetto is dumped in the Radiohead-wannabe-bin is beyond me. Is Coldplay an Echo tribute band? If so, then why isn't *Echo* bigger here? Come to think of it though, maybe Americans *do* like regurgitation in a band. One of the last groups to make it big here was Oasis, an unabashed Beatles tribute band. I think I'm going to make a poster that says 'Listen to Muse' and go stand at 6th and Congress downtown during the lunch hour. :-) - --Amy ========================================= http://www.bunnymen.com official web page ========================================= ====================================== Choices! mailto:majordomo@smoe.org Subscribe/unsubscribe Seven-seas Seven-seas-moderated Both available in digest form. ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Sep 2002 14:00:11 +0200 From: Subject: seven-seas-moderated -John Squire's voice- I've concluded my research. Have seen both them and >Radiohead live, Muse were OK, Radiohead left me totally emotionally >drained. Whatever 'lights your candle' I guess. I too have seen both Muse (twice) and Radiohead live....the first Muse gig was excellent, despite the notoriously bad PA system at Bristol's Colston Hall. At the second one, Matt Bellamy *looked* as though he was giving it his all, but the vocal was so low in the mix it was hard to tell. And then there was Radiohead....I saw them in Newport on the "tent tour" just prior to the release of Kid A, and they were stunning. Even the new stuff, which I don't like as studio recordings, sounded superb, and the likes of Just, Fake Plastic Trees, Paranoid Android etc were out of this world. It was just a shame we had to be subjected to Sigur fucking Ros as a warm-up.... ;-) That said, I do think it is unfair to label Muse as a Radiohead tribute band. I can see that there are comparisons between Showbiz and Pablo Honey/Bends-era Radiohead, but Origin Of Symmetry is a masterpiece of an album, unlike anything Radiohead have done... ====================================== Choices! mailto:majordomo@smoe.org Subscribe/unsubscribe Seven-seas Seven-seas-moderated Both available in digest form. ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Sep 2002 14:44:27 +0100 From: "Noose Boy" Subject: seven-seas-moderated RE: seven-seas -John Squire's voice- Don't like the vocal but apart from that it's not bad.
